@stationmum101 I'm just wondering when is the right time to take all the sheep to graze on the lawns of parliament house...? There is more feed there than anywhere else at the moment and they might as well be valued as lawn mowers as they have no other value at the moment.

I hope all the animal activists are happy now. Remind me again- how many sheep died on the Awassi? And how many sheep will be shot & wasted now? Slow clap @AustralianLabor @MurrayWatt @AlboMP

@CorbinSchuster I would bet that many of the new residents in your case commute to Adelaide (or Gawler/Barossa), so add in travel time to and from work. We are having similar issues with finding volunteers. It is also that there is so much going on, people have to pick and choose, reducing no's

Bit of a rant. Our local rural town, like many others in regional Australia, has undergone somewhat rapid population growth (doubled) in the last decade thanks to subdivisions, new estates etc. You're now greeted with a lot of new, fresh faces whenever you venture in to town. A growing town, vibrancy, energy....great right? Well... Despite this increase in population, local community organisations and committees are struggling to find volunteers to continue operating. Counter-intuitively, it seems like apathy and disinterest in the local community has increased as the population has increased...probably more correlation than causation. 2 pertinent examples...there are many more. First, the local institute/town hall, after 120 years of continual operation, has been unable to form a volunteer committee to oversee management...despite a 10x increase in population from when the building was constructed to now. Second, (this occurred tonight and is half the reason for the post) the local council/government held a community forum on their strategic plan for the next 4 years, a blueprint for where we want the town/region to go. It was well advertised in the community, well set up... Only 3 people from the town turned up - myself, my old man and another guy whose sole motivation to attend was to complain about potholes. It's like no one gives a flying f***. Have the majority of people just become robots? Wake up, go to work, come home, TV, then go to sleep...then repeat for 40 years without a thought to what's happening in the immediate world around you. Unsure what's going on.

But then proceeds to say that Australian farmers receive the lowest levels of government producer support globally (4%, which is skewed by our contribution to RDCs, I'm told) #abaresoutlook

Just going to take a moment to recognise the rockstar that is Dr Luci Ellis, Chief Economist at @Westpac. A hiccup with her slides at #abaresoutlook but they managed to stay on message, infuse some humour and keep the audience engaged 🙌🏼👏🏼 @ABARES
