15-year-old African migrant who arrived in Britain just two years ago has been jailed for raping a 17-year-old girl in a park at 2am. The boy followed the victim through Cripplegate Park in Worcester after she was walking home. He told her she was “pretty and sexy” and that he wanted sex, saying it would “only take five minutes”. When she refused, he forced himself on her, pulled off her shorts and underwear and raped her while she begged to be let go home. He also carried out an assault by penetration. DNA evidence, including blood and semen, confirmed his guilt. The judge warned he poses a high risk of reoffending and has “little understanding or interest” in the impact on his victim. Critics say the sentence is a joke. Despite being jailed for five years and three months, he will likely be released in around two years or even earlier under Labour’s early release scheme. The victim is now scared of men, suffers nightmares every day and has developed a drug habit to cope with the trauma.
