For anyone wondering whether the radical climate lobby’s “sue, stall, and bleed” strategy would hold up, today’s 8–0 decision from SCOTUS is your answer.

During a meeting in Washington with @DFC_CEO Ben Black, we discussed expanding the capabilities of the U.S.-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund, URIF. In less than a year, the Fund has moved from concept to tangible results. Its first investment in a Ukrainian dual-use technology company has already been approved, and more than 200 applications are currently under review. These are important milestones in the long-term economic partnership between Ukraine and the United States in priority sectors – energy, dual-use technologies, critical minerals, and infrastructure. We are also working together on practical tools to support investors, including the use of war-risk insurance mechanisms offered by @DFCgov for private sector companies. We separately discussed cooperation with Naftogaz and potential investment projects, including the modernization of damaged and outdated equipment in partnership with American companies. This will help restore gas production facilities damaged by Russian attacks. At the same time, Ukraine is offering American partners the use of its underground gas storage infrastructure. This would strengthen Europe’s energy security and create new routes for energy supply. We also paid attention to a new area of cooperation – expanding access to affordable housing for Ukrainians. I am grateful to DFC for its readiness to broaden financing opportunities for the Ukrainian Financial Housing Company.

Let’s be real. First we need the climate assessment to evaluate in advance the damage from opening of the Strait while deliberately ignoring the amount of fossil fuels that get burned to arrive at the Davos summit.

Very cool seeing the wave of empty tankers heading to the US to pick up some desperately needed crude for Hormuz-starved markets. All the tankers on the map below are empty VLCCs (~2 million barrel capacity each) currently heading for the US Gulf Coast.

Government funded media in Ireland, and that's most of it, are having to sing for their supper with their coverage of the #FuelProtest. Even RTE must be quietly chocking on how they are having to cover this. The government can end this in 15 minutes by announcing the cancellation of the carbon taxes and a reduction of VAT on fuels along the lines of what Poland has done. It's that simple. The fact they haven't yet done that tells you how captured they are by special interests.

@celticgibson @caulmick You’re likely correct. But the incompetence is in thinking a system in which bureaucrats in Brussels have the authority to silence Irish farmers as they’re being taxed out of existence is one that wouldn’t lead to rebellion
