How close are we to using a single cfDNA assay for broader, multi-disease detection? In @PNASNews, investigators evaluated MethylScan, a highly cost-effective cfDNA methylome assay, in 1,061 individuals. The study reported an AUROC of 0.938 for multicancer detection, 0.916 for early-stage cancers, and 0.927 for liver cancer surveillance, supporting the promise of scalable methylation-based diagnostics.
