Mchunu Says Masemola Summons Proves No One Is Above the Law Suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu has described as “unfortunate” the news that National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has been summoned to appear in court over the controversial R360-million SAPS Medicare 24 health-services tender. Mchunu, who has been on special leave since mid-2025 amid his own separate allegations, made the remarks as the scandal continues to shake the highest levels of the South African Police Service. President Cyril Ramaphosa has noted the charges and indicated he will address the matter in line with the law. The NPA has described the summons as part of a broader investigation into procurement irregularities that began in 2024. Masemola’s upcoming court appearance is expected to attract significant public and political attention.
