@runtmc1989 @Renatta You three are super smart I have no doubt, probably upper echelon of intelligence in the world. Anyways what your favorite charity to donate for DS? I’ve been asking conservatives and nobody seems to know, it’s almost like they don’t actually care?

Downs Syndrome isn’t a terminal diagnosis. Many people live joyful and productive lives with Downs Syndrome. And even if it were terminal, it would still not be a reason to kill your child before they even have a chance at life.

My wife is pregnant with our sixth child, we refused the Trisomy 21 test for all of our kids. We don’t care. The baby will live. Yes, even if he has something that means I have to take care of him until I’m 80. I get to love and care for my son my entire life. That’s the point.

Children aren't like clothes where if you don't like the way it fits you can just send it back for a refund. There's no refunds with children. This isn't Amazon.. When you make the decision to have children, you need to be prepared for what may come. And whatever God sends should be viewed as a blessing, not a curse or a burden. And if you can't handle a child who needs extra care, then you should not have children. PERIOD. Because even a child who is born perfectly healthy, could develop an illness or a disability or even a behavioral problem that creates an additional burden on you. In fact, it's likely to happen. So if you are too scared of a extra work, don't have kids just get your 15 cats and enjoy your life. I don't mean this rudely I'm giving you honest and objective feedback. You do not have what it takes to be a mother or a father.

@KristanHawkins Then why does none of your page or values reflect support of investing into our healthcare, education, or support systems? It’s almost like…you don’t actually care about any of that and just have this conception latch your identity to.

What a strange argument... By that logic, poverty should justify infanticide. If healthcare, education, and support systems are inadequate (and they are), the solution is to improve those systems. The solution is never killing the child who needs them.
Jamie Bonkiewicz@JamieBonkiewicz

You cannot force families to carry disabled children to term while simultaneously gutting the education, healthcare, and support systems those families need to care for them.

“Mind your own business” (a non-argument) doesn’t work when human life is involved. A nearly viable baby was killed for a chromosomal difference. If they’d killed it a day AFTER birth, would “mind your own business” bc it was “their decision” cut it?

The tiny soul who was killed in the womb has a LEGACY. The devastating story of the couple who aborted their child because it *may* have had Down Syndrome has demonstrated something profound. That little angel - that little soul - has shown ALL of the world that the overwhelming majority of us CHERISH LIFE in all of its forms. Let that be the legacy of the beautiful, pure life taken from this world. The overwhelming majority of us still love. We still cherish God and His creations. We are still good.

How deeply backwards our society has become. Far too many people sincerely believe it’s acceptable to alleviate suffering by killing those who suffer.
Jesse Ridgway@McJuggerNuggets

This week, my wife and I made the very difficult decision to terminate the pregnancy due to Trisomy 21. The choice was not made lightly. We really appreciate all of the personal stories that you guys shared with us, especially the unconditional support we received from fans with no matter what we decided. I know some of you may be very disappointed to hear this news. We are devastated. This has been extremely traumatic for both of us, especially Ashley. She underwent the procedure earlier this week and is on the mend. Thankfully, everything went smoothly, but emotionally we are drained. Trisomy 21, also known as Down Syndrome, is caused by an extra chromosome. It is caused by an error in cell division, like a glitch. The odds of a baby having it is 1 in 1000. When I first confronted this news, I was shocked but optimistic. If they’re a little slow intellectually, then we’ll make it work. I signed on to be a parent, come what may…but I just didn’t fully understand what Down Syndrome entailed. Once we made it public, it became clear that MOST people don’t know what Down Syndrome entails (and no, it’s not the same as Autism): 50% of babies with DS have heart defects. 75% will have hearing challenges. Over 50% will have vision problems. Impaired immune function, developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, delayed physical development, poor muscle tone, structural issues with face, decreased lifespan, etc…Sadly, the list is long, feel free to look it up…Down Syndome isn’t a “blessing”, it is objectively shitty from a health perspective. I didn’t realize just how rough it is for the child, let alone the family…more often than not, they would be fully dependent on others for the rest of their life. The miscarriage risk is also close to 50%, which made matters worse…they may never see the light of day and it puts Ashley further at risk. We spoke with doctors, friends, family and genetic counselors and learned that up to 90% of women terminate their pregnancy after learning the baby has Trisomy 21. This was WAY higher than I expected, I thought it would be lower given that I hear so many say they kept or would keep the baby. I believe that’s because most terminations happen privately, it feels shameful. A lot of judgment being cast. You never think you’d be in this type of situation until it happens to you and then things change. To all of my fans who have weighed in on this topic who have Autism, Down Syndrome or any other conditions…we appreciate you. You matter a lot and we’re glad you’re here. I commend you and your families for having the strength and courage to push forward. As for us, we made a difficult decision that we believe in the long-run will be beneficial for our family. Thankfully, we had a choice. It will take a little time to move on, but we are excited to try again in the future and hopefully have a better outcome. Love you guys & thank you for understanding. ❤️

@afistfulofteeth @kaylee_ashlynn I’ll tell you now, none. They care about the baby up until birth, after that it becomes poor people problems and they could care less about a kid because they never actually did in the first place.

You mean the adoption programs that are plagued with missing, abused, and trafficked children? Here’s a good question to ask you: How many times have you ever publicly advocated to fix the poor adoption conditions just like you’re publicly advocating for people to put children in the adoption system?

@GrantMa25066011 Nobody is saying abortion for all children whenever you want (only fringe individuals want this). But be reasonable, have nuance, if your child is at risk for severe impairment where they essentially live with no quality of life (trach dependent, etc) is that really life?

While I’m aware it’s a different ballgame than Down syndrome, as someone with autism I still find the notion that a child isn’t worth caring for because of a disability to be personally insulting to me. If you interacted with me today it’d take very keen powers of observation to notice the ways I’m different from normal people, but when I was a kid my autism was definitely pretty noticeable, and the reason that’s changed is because my parents went out of their way to do everything they could to get me the help I needed, despite it being financially and often times very emotionally taxing on them. Look the way I see it, if you believe a child isn’t worth caring for because it’d be too difficult, you aren’t deserving of being a parent. Parents are supposed to love and care for their children unconditionally, it should not be predicated on convenience. And if you truly can’t afford to care for a child with Down syndrome (which these two most definitely can), that doesn’t justify aborting them, other options exist. And while some people will dispute this by saying it’d be cruel to subject them to a life of misery, I’d argue it’s ever crueler to not give them a chance at all. There have been plenty of examples of people with Down syndrome who’ve led incredible lives despite everything, and the people I’ve met with Down syndrome have been some of the nicest and most cheerful people I’ve ever met despite how unfair life has been to them. What these two did was absolutely shameful and they’ll be forced to reckon with it for the rest of their lives, as well as answer for it in the next if you believe such a place exists like I do.

@DEGOPer @Amwysoc If you jump off a bridge and break your legs, doctors don't refuse to treat you because “you consented to gravity.” They take you to the hospital and fix the damage. Knowing a risk exists doesn't wave your right to medical intervention when things go wrong.

@OccamsTruth @aethelstanvoice @Trouvo_Souvok You do know how much more expensive it is to have children with special needs right? It’s beyond ordinary child expenses which this prompts the need for assistance from others. So do you care about kids or do you just pretend?

Woke up pissed. That was a tough one. Probably the toughest loss my soul has felt since 2013. This Knicks team is great but miss me with all the “ They are the much better team.” This young Spurs team is right there with them. A play here or there and this series is 2-0 Spurs, but it’s not. Keep fighting. Just get game 3.
