First, this seems incredibly dramatic for the situation at hand. Second, do you really value the AI bubble / economy more than you value safety of AI given all the potential implications for society & humanity? I’m very techno optimist and work in tech, but I can’t fathom anyone prioritizing AI innovation or economy over global safety

David, you have to get the message across to these sources. 48 hours until the mother of all bubbles bursts if the Feds don’t turn fable 5 back on. We don’t need the music to stop, if AI demand just slows this market is done. I can’t think of any cyber incident that would be more destructive than that short of complete shut down of the grid. The precedent this sets is catastrophic to risk capital. This exponential changes the terminal value of every dollar invested in Ai, ai infrastructure and every tangential industry. If these IPO windows get pushed back even a month or two these companies have to adjust their token subsidies, which curbs demand and creates a death spiral. If the cyber defenders can’t do their job then that needs to be exposed now. We need to surface these weaknesses now before the open source models are doing the except same thing within 90 days.

I’ve had a number of conversations with folks inside and outside government about the current situation with Anthropic, and here is what I believe to be true: — As we know, Anthropic publicly released its Mythos class models earlier this week under the commercial name Fable. — Fable is Mythos with guardrails. But if those guardrails fail, then you’ve exposed Mythos and its advanced cyber capabilities to people who shouldn’t have them. (Keep in mind that Anthropic itself widely promoted the idea that Mythos was a cyberweapon and needed to be regulated as such. They asked for government regulation of Mythos and championed the guardrails on Fable. If there is a vulnerability — big or small — it is Anthropic’s responsibility to patch.) — A highly credible trusted partner of both Anthropic and the USG who was testing Fable came forward with a jailbreak of those guardrails. The Admin asked Dario to fix the jailbreak or de-deploy the model. Dario refused. — In their blog post, Anthropic defended its decision by saying the jailbreak isn’t serious. That is not what the trusted partner and the USG believe; nor is that kind of minimizing language consistent with Anthropic’s brand as the AI safety company. It’s difficult to fathom how they could claim a jailbreak allowing operability of a cyber weapon could be defined as not “serious.” — In the past, Anthropic has always said that safety must be top priority and taken super seriously. In this case, Anthropic prioritized the continued offering of the consumer model over safety. — In reaction, the Admin issued the export control. The Admin did this reluctantly. It’s been very surprised that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to cooperate with a reasonable safety request (ie fixing the jailbreak issue). Anthropic’s reaction is very much at odds with their branding and ethos as a safe AI research community. — The Admin’s hope now is that Anthropic remediates the safety issue, the export control is lifted, and Fable goes back into general release. The Admin wants all of this to happen as soon as possible. It is frankly bewildered that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to comply with safety requests that it previously said were its highest priority. — Those trying to misdirect and tie this action to the prior DoW/Anthropic issues are wrong. The Admin values Anthropic’s technical capabilities and feels that this issue, while serious, should be easily resolved. The ball is in Anthropic’s court.

If you want to witness a master class in leadership and business, read this article and closely follow this new @XBOX chapter As a 12 year Xbox/Microsoft alum and lifelong Xbox fan, I’ll admit: I was skeptic #1 of the @asha_shar announce. The games industry is sacred, how could a self-proclaimed non-gamer know the first thing about what Xbox needs But after closely following her first 100 days and especially after this post, I’m 100% sold The hard truths that she exposed in this article are not small details, or PR speak They are deep warts of the Xbox business that have been swept under the rug or minimized for years There is NO way Xbox or Microsoft of old would’ve exposed those truths with transparency to the public. Asha and Matt Booty did. That alone is a massive shift in culture and approach that speaks volume. Asha inherited a difficult and incredibly unhealthy business. And in 100 days, she’s shown curiosity, a deep understanding the industry, and a tenacity to turn it around. And she’s doing it all with extreme transparency to her team and the Xbox community, which both deserve after all these years I have friends at Xbox who describe her as a visionary, risk-taking, ruthless, and operational leader with deep curiosity. And that’s exactly what Xbox needs In 100 days: - She made some tough leadership changes and brought in three new senior / C Level leaders, including @ballmatthew who is exactly what Xbox needed - She rebranded and refocused XBOX, returned a commitment to console and exclusives - She recommitted to the Xbox community with a new Player Voice CRM type system - She turned every stone of the Xbox business and clearly understands its ins and outs And now she’s hitting the reset button on tooling, platform, content, and more - exactly what’s needed to reset an unhealthy business This will be the greatest case study in the Gaming industry’s history - only time will tell if she succeeds but boy would I personally bet on it (if I could)
ASHA@asha_shar

We just shared with our team the realities we need to navigate as we work to reset the XBOX business. We won't succeed by hiding hard truths, nor will we succeed by doing the same thing and expecting different results. See the note here: news.xbox.com/en-us/2026/06/…

Bill Gurley: Anthropic Thinks It’s Building God @Jason: It is the ultimate level of narcissism and delusion of grandeur to think you can create God. @bgurley: “Anthropic is a mystery to me. I've never, ever seen a company that is both leading their field and the most negatively outspoken commenter on what they do. And my initial theory was the regulatory capture theory. Quite frankly, I think they're very close to achieving that. But then they just got so loud that I've literally, in the past 30 days, read everything I can about Anthropic, and I've come up with a new theory. I call it the Dr. Frankenstein theory. The more I dig, I've met people who, I dare say, think it's their responsibility, and they're excited about, building a species that's superior to humans. Dario wrote this blog post called ‘Machines of Loving Grace.’ It was based on a poem. The last stanza of the poem says, ‘I like to think of a cybernetic ecology where we are free of our labors, and joined back to nature, returned to our mammal brothers and sisters, and all watched over by machines of loving grace.’ Sounds like an overlord to me. And then in Dario's post, he says, ‘It could be a capitalist economy of AI systems which then give out resources to humans based on some secondary economy of what the AI systems think makes sense to reward in humans…’ So I don't think they think they're writing software. I think they're midwifing a deity here.” Jason: “These are delusions of grandeur. Let's call it what it is. They believe that they're so powerful, these individuals, that they can create God, and that by creating God, they are like this Prometheus kind of species. It literally is the ultimate level of narcissism and delusion of grandeur to think you can create God.”

@jacobinfante24 It's not that. It's what his coach said. That may be his coach's way to motivate or whatever, but it wasn't exactly reassuring. If anything, he was making it a thing instead of quelling it.

68 college students played video games an hour a day for 30 weeks. They got measurably smarter. EEG brain scans confirmed it. The setup was simple. Half the group played League of Legends, an action game. The other half played Legends of the Three Kingdoms, a strategy card game. Same hours, same schedule, no gaming experience for anyone going in. Both groups improved on attention, working memory, and executive function. The League group's gains were significantly larger in spatial attention and spatial working memory. The benefits were still measurable 10 weeks after the gaming stopped. None of this is new. Daphne Bavelier's lab at the University of Geneva has been replicating this finding since the early 2000s. Her 2018 meta-analysis in Psychological Bulletin pulled data from 8,970 participants across 15 years and found the same thing. Action games train attentional control, a brain skill that transfers to other tasks. Strategy games train deliberation, which mostly stays inside the strategy game. The mechanism is the counterintuitive part. Action games train your brain by giving you no time to think. The brain can't deliberate. League of Legends throws 9 champions, hundreds of minions, dozens of abilities, mana, cooldowns, and map state at you, all updating in milliseconds. The brain learns to perceive faster instead. That perceptual speed transfers to anything else that demands the same skill. Including surgery. The 2007 Rosser study in Archives of Surgery found that laparoscopic surgeons who played video games more than 3 hours a week made 37% fewer errors, completed procedures 27% faster, and scored 42% higher on overall performance. The top third of gamers made 47% fewer errors. Laparoscopic surgery is a 2D screen with distorted depth perception, remote-controlled instruments, and multiple data streams updating in real time. The cognitive profile is almost identical to an action video game. The 10-week persistence is the part that should change how this gets discussed. If the gains were just from practicing the game, they would have disappeared the moment the students stopped playing. They didn't. The 30 weeks rewired the perceptual system, and the rewiring stayed.
