You know it’s bad when you’re own boss suggests you take a vacation day to be out in the sun with your dogs (on the first glorious day of the spring) and you didn’t even ask. I took the suggestion/advice.

And honestly, nothing prepares you for the way children love you…with this devastating, fierce little loyalty. How they cup you in their tiny warms hands & choose you again & again with zero hesitation. And the older she gets, the more I realize this is all I ever wanted, to be chosen in these small, ordinary ways that end up saving your whole life. Children make everything feel less cruel. And I don’t take a second of it for granted. She gives me the kind of love I didn’t know I deserved & all I want is to give it right back.
