That was the objective and it lasted because he implemented those ideals. Napoleon is the continuation of the revolution, not a replacement

@Flonca27 @Cyderene @soigomaa The revolution did fail because they failed to implement their objectives. They even went as far as implementing a new (disastrous) calendar system. Napoleon did away with most if not all of the National Assembly's policies.

Just like napoleon did with the Napoleonic code. He stabilized and institutionalized what the revolution set in motion

@Flonca27 @Cyderene @soigomaa By the time Napoleon rose to power, the authority of the National Assembly was in shambles, and its leaders dead. The Napoleonic Code had a more lasting impression on French society than the several "constitutions" enacted by the Assembly.

Also the Napoleonic code was spread and standardized by Napoleon, however it came out of French revolutionary ideals, not him.

Certainly wasn’t a perfect revolution with the reign of terror, but the world certainly wouldn’t have gotten anywhere if they followed nonviolent values
