I want to say that as a UK citizen I do not find the Eid festivities and public prayer in any way disturbing. I find any suggestion that they are disturbing to be very offensive and un-British.

Chelsea are behind Liam Rosenior and sympathise that he has come into a situation where the squad is said to be ‘knackered’ and has not had appropriate time to implement his ideas. Summer target lists are underway with all eventualities being considered, as Chelsea feel UCL qualification will likely come down to fine margins in May. There is no current suggestion that the model will be changed. Chelsea also feel that contract statues with many current stars wanting more money is further proof that it would not be wise to chase signings that would be looking for a high base salary. The club want players to be together as a team and earn their money. There is not an appetite to create an entitled and unhealthy culture and the cost to risk ratio is high. Directors are working within the financial restrictions and the model put in place by Behdad Egbhali. There may be an odd exception but generally this is what I’m told. The club are open to spending high transfer fee’s but not salaries straight away. 1/3…

5k concurrent viewers is the most-watched stream I have ever had. Pulled down by the very company that invited me to the event to cover it... What a joke.

How much do you need invested to withdraw £35,000 a year and never run out of money? Probably less than you think. Start with £875,000 in a growth portfolio averaging 10% a year. Withdraw £35,000 annually. Here’s what happens. After 5 years: You’ve withdrawn £175,000 Your portfolio grows to ~£1.19M After 10 years: You’ve withdrawn £350,000 Your portfolio grows to ~£1.71M After 20 years: You’ve withdrawn £700,000 Your portfolio grows to ~£3.88M Read that again. You took £700k out… and your portfolio is now worth £3M more than when you started. That’s compounding. Eventually your money makes more than you spend. Now here’s the UK cheat code. If that £875k sits inside a Stocks & Shares ISA… Every pound you withdraw is tax-free. No income tax. No capital gains tax. Nothing. A £35k salary from a job gets taxed. £35k from your ISA lands in your account in full. So how long does it take to build £875k? Invest £500/month at 10% and you get there in about 29 years. Start at 25 → ~54 Start at 30 → ~59 At that point your portfolio can pay you £35k a year. Forever. The UK actually gives investors incredible tools. Most people just never use them.

LSE Professor earning over 100k a year will have a very good pension pot - I worked at the LSE their Professors never leave the Academic/Political bubble & I mean never. Thinks a 70 year old man in Stoke on Trent who has worked on a building site since he was 16 shouldn't have £12,500 a year to live on.

The UK triple lock is the singlest stupidest policy in the entire Western world, and the most damaging to the future of a country. Of course, it is also untouchable and almost undiscussed in the UK press. @mattyglesias does a big favour to the UK public here.

This is literally all of traditional financial television and media right now A few select podcasts now capture all of the important guests that are actually worth listening to Some of my favorites > Invest Like The Best > Founders > Capital Allocators > Acquired > Cheeky Pint > Uncapped by Jack Altman > Odd Lots > Dwarkesh Podcast Any others that people recommend?

tom lee is my favorite cause he just gets on tv every week and says some ridiculous price target that never happens and he always gets invited back and taken seriously

@henrywinter May be its because the Premiership is about as overated as can be. It relies on media driven hype, exagerated punditry and commentating, which is relentless. And all this XG tactical garbage is meaningless nonsense.

The reasons behind PL travails in the UCL (really only Newcastle acquitted themselves well) are far more nuanced than simply a question of fatigue. Also issues around coaching and playing styles, grappling and goalkeeping. But the schedule will come under scrutiny... 1/2

I’d never invest in a Bulgarian bank, sorry! However, it appears Martin is suggesting it, so it must be safe. I remember the rush to invest in Icelandic bank for a minuscule extra 0.001% on your cash ISA. However, the bank collapsed in 2008 and those covered deposits endured a wait of nearly two years. Good luck!
Martin Lewis@MartinSLewis

Trading 212's 4.68% cash ISA rate (new customers only, no transfers at this rate) is avail via most 3rd party sites eg comparison sites. Go direct & you won't currently get the bonus that pumps it up to 4.68%, so be careful. Rates are changing sometimes by the minute as its ISA season, so always check

@a_goetsch You need to go to La Fromagerie and Bayley & Sage. Have you had Mrs Kirkmams's and an Eccles Cakes from St John's? Marylebone is amazing.
