I can hate 8 of 9 teams making CFL Playoffs and also see all the things the league is doing to appeal for increased revenue and more markets. Less cost to retrofit stadiums More home playoff dates for teams More ad revenue for television provider More TV revenue for teams =

lol. Okay there bahd. Regular season games mean nothing. Where’s the motivation to tune in? What happens when someone starts 5-0 and clinches a playoff spot before Canada Day? Fans will get past; by ignoring CFL games and tuning into sports where the games mean something

@BCLionsDen @DarshanVancity Allowing 8/9 teams and creating a complicated playoff format in a sport that has been one and done forever is going to hurt growth. I’m not just talking out of my ass either; I’ve seen numbers from other leagues

This is the single dumbest decision in professional sports history. This will lead to massive drops in attendance, viewership and revenue and will set the league back for decades Congratulations you just made the entire regular season irrelevant

Add in a one of a kind bracket that will take tons of explanation and you’re banking on only the hardcores and zero growth

8 out of 9 teams in the Canadian Football League playoffs takes away from what makes those games special. Playoff football is supposed to be earned. If anything, grow the league by adding more teams…. not the number of automatic spots. 🤷🏽‍♂️

@BleederofGreen @Just_Woods_ I think those making the decisions are not accounting for fan engagement decreasing when 8/9 make it If fan engagement doesn’t decrease; it’s a good idea, but I think it’s going to turn many people away when 18 games are basically for seeding

@FraserPxP @JohnMcG20286628 a 4-14 team would have to win 3 road games in a row and then win a neutral site game to get a ring. Extremely hard (but not impossible) feat to accomplish when home teams win 80% of the time.

@FraserPxP @jphayman I mean maybe, I really think teams being able to rest their hurt players without fear of losing their season is big. If I never have to see a half-concussed qb trot out on the field to try and win game again it's probably worth the 8/9 getting in. #CFL
