@AndrewYang We don’t “like” him because he allowed the preventable death and suffering of thousands upon thousands of people in the pursuit of profit.

You can’t justify violence against someone you don’t like and then be opposed to it when it goes the other direction. The principle is clear: violence is wrong.

Not sure it matters what the shooter's political ideology is. What's more relevant/actionable is the fact that his rage was widely understood by Americans, who by the way just reelected Trump. Hard to convince voters of the stakes of preserving a system that immiserated them.

The shooter's politics are irrelevant to everyone other than elites in both parties who want to convince their respective bases to not care about our broken healthcare system because it's "the other guy's" issue.

As expected the media are refusing to publish the manifesto although somehow selectively quoting from it is allowed. If you have access to the manifesto, text me via signal at 202-510-1268

@rolandsmartin @krystalball @BernieSanders 1) that’s not true 2) even assuming it were true, if Clyburn, Biden, the rest of the Dem establishment worked together to help Bernie defeat Trump… that wouldn’t have improved his support at all?

Not just Senator Sanders, the Democratic establishment declared war on the left starting with OH-11 and then ousted @coribush & @JamaalBowmanNY this summer, smearing us as antisemitic for seeing Palestinians as human beings, but the motivation was because we stood up to corporations.

6/ We don't listen enough; we tell people what's good for them. And when progressives like Bernie aggressively go after the elites that hold people down, they are shunned as dangerous populists. Why? Maybe because true economic populism is bad for our high-income base. 😬

We're still doing this, huh? "Oh, you say you're struggling financially? Well, maybe stop consuming right-wing media and take a look at this here CPI reading!!"

"It wasn’t the economy," @mtomasky says. "It wasn’t inflation, or anything else. It was how people perceive those things, which points to one overpowering answer" — the right-wing media. newrepublic.com/post/188197/tr…

@kathy25932350 @UAW Economies don’t buy cars, people do—when their wages are high enough that they feel they can afford to. Those workers that produce the cars should be able to afford the products of their labor. Even literal nazi Henry Ford understood that.

@UAW A healthy, prosperous economy sells and buys more cars. You on the other hand would vote to continue to stifle the economy and shutter plants.

🧵Statement from UAW President Shawn Fain on 2024 Presidential Election: "UAW members around the country clocked in today under the same threat they faced yesterday: unchecked corporate greed destroying our lives, our families, and our communities. It’s the threat of companies like Stellantis, Mack Truck, and John Deere shipping jobs overseas to boost shareholder profits. It’s the threat of corporate America telling the working class to sit down and shut up."

Before it gets flushed down the memory hole: this was in the NYT a couple of weeks before the election, and it wasn't meant to be an indictment—their sources were bragging about how they'd induced Harris (far from subtly) to move well to the right of Biden on economic policy. 1/

@glnott @DylanByers No it’s not. Not if there’s high turnout. If nearly every registered voter votes, an attempt to steal someone’s vote would be caught. This almost entirely theoretical threat only exists when elections have low turnout.

@DylanByers A good example of why in-person with voter ID should be the default is that signature matching is a problem.

Nevada’s secretary of state, seeing high number of rejected ballots in Clark and Washoe, says one of the biggest issues is that the signatures of younger voters don’t always match what’s on their driver’s licenses: “It’s mostly the fact that young people don’t have signatures these days. And when they did register to vote through the automatic voter registration process, they signed a digital pad at D.M.V., and that became their license signature.” nytimes.com/live/2024/11/0…
