Kenny Goes to Sleep by Kenny Gray 3 Sentence Review: 1. It’s a one-man comedy show composed of 10 vignettes in which Kenny transforms into the different characters that comprise his dreams 2. The performance is the spiritual child of Chris Farley and Tim Robinson, and it sort of feels like you’re watching an hour long Saturday Night Live audition tape (in a good way) 3. Boiler Room Six: A Titanic Story By Tom Foreman 3 Sentence Review: 1. Boiler Room Six is a one-man show telling the story of Frederick Barrett — a stoker on the Titanic — during his last few hours aboard 2. Foreman’s show is well acted, directed, and choreographed but the script hits very similar notes to the beloved James Cameron film 3. In his one-man show Lorrel tells his life story while weaving in snippets of the wonderful music that’s helped him get through some exceptionally traumatic decades 2. Lorrel doesn’t seem to be performing as much as is he rawly recounting his trauma in a fashion that moved several audience members to tears 3. Sophie’s Surprise 29th Birthday 3 Sentence Review: 1.It’s an acrobatic cabaret with a joyful birthday-party plot and hysterical audience engagement 2.This is the MOST FUN I’ve had at any show this month; the stunts were flawless and had me involuntarily blurting “Oh My God” and “Holy Shit!” 3.My friends and I debated whether or not we found the acrobatics more or less impressive than Olympic gymnastics, and we agreed that in other venues these tickets could easily sell for £100+ Verdict: Spectacular. Girlhood by @Tiegbyrne 3 Sentence Review: 1. In Girlhood 3 women at 3 different New Year’s Eve parties find themselves reflecting on what it means to be a mother. 2. This is the best show I’ve seen at Fringe in a long time; the writing, choreography, and acting are all excellent. 3. Girlhood may be the breakout show this year, and @livh011 delivers a profoundly moving monologue as Nancy. Verdict: This is genius. Don't miss it.
