@AndreasHale @HeyHeyItsConrad Honestly, you know why. Not saying it’s right or wrong. This post in response to it is a bit attention seeking to try to garner support on your behalf on social media. You made a choice a while back knowing the blow back you could’ve gotten from it. You did it so you deal with it

I will not be covering #WrestleMania for ESPN. WWE denied my credentials and blocked my access. Neither I nor ESPN has been told why. You can speculate on the reasons, but if you want answers, ask WWE. Let me know what they tell you. ~FIN~

I second this question. CNN’s Lebanon guests are a parade of gulf state funded think tankers who leave viewers with the impression that all Lebanese hate Hezbollah and Iran and can’t wait to be official friends with Israel. The reality on the ground is not even close to that

Has CNN ever hosted a Lebanese who is not beholden to the Gulf-Israeli agenda in Lebanon?

this is insane. A day after their stealth edit removal of an "Iranian source" telling them that they want Iran to be "levelled" and nuked, the BBC has added a note admitting they removed it, and that the quote was fabricated. But they still kept the "source" in the piece. Ghoncheh Habibiazad is their Senior Reporter on Iran, and needs to be fired immediately for having fabricated a quote to justify and launder the nuking of Iran right as Trump is threatening it. Raffi Berg, who is the editor of their Middle-East coverage and approved this fabrication also needs to be fired. Minimal journalistic standards and ethics demand this.

holy shit, the BBC just edited the passage from their anonymous "Iranian source" and removed the begging for being left without electricity, water and being nuked to death. So they admitted to fabricating the quote without any formal correction. This is utterly insane

@Plutz__ @Zhane_Star But Kate is portrayed as wrong and insensitive here. The panel itself isnt fatphobic. They made Kate to be an ass. Im behind on the show but I dont think theres much wrong in portraying an ignorant character

@Zhane_Star It’s not that characters can’t have flaws, it’s that this is gross and fatphobic and we’ve not seen Kate make any comment like this in the show, making it out of character. Kate is supposed to be a good person, making her fatphobic is counterproductive. It’s the same reason //

King of Benin, Oba Ovonramwen on the British yacht HM Ivy on his way to exile in Calabar, 1897. In 1897, Oba Ovonramwen Nogbaisi, the King of Benin, was forced into exile following the British invasion of the Kingdom of Benin, a powerful and highly organized state in what is now southern Nigeria. The invasion, often referred to as the Benin Expedition of 1897, was a major turning point in the history of the kingdom. British forces attacked Benin City, leading to the destruction of the royal palace and the looting of thousands of sacred and cultural artifacts, now widely known as the Benin Bronzes. These objects, which held deep historical and spiritual significance, were taken to Europe and remain dispersed in museums and private collections around the world. Oba Ovonramwen, who had ruled since 1888, was captured and removed from his homeland. He was taken into exile in Calabar, far from the kingdom he once led. His removal marked the end of Benin’s independence and the beginning of direct colonial control over the region. The Kingdom of Benin had long been known for its advanced political structure, skilled artistry, and rich cultural traditions. The events of 1897 disrupted this legacy, but they did not erase it. Today, the history of Benin continues to be remembered through its art, its people, and ongoing discussions about the return of looted artifacts. Oba Ovonramwen’s story is a reminder of how African kingdoms were impacted during the era of colonial expansion. It highlights themes of resistance, loss, and the lasting importance of cultural preservation. —If you love our content and would like to support the page, you can buy us a coffee here: buymeacoffee.com/africanarchives

@HeyyElvis @StartArchiving Iran funding Salafism? I would really encourage you to learn a bit about the Muslim world before commenting on it. If you did, you'd laugh at yourself for suggesting this

In 1991, African Concord detailed a chilling face-off in Northern Nigeria. It was the year Mallam Yakubu Yahaya, a fiery cleric dubbed the "Ayatollah of Katsina," declared that nobody and nothing would stand in the way of his mission to install an Islamic revolution in the country. The tension reached a breaking point on March 28, 1991. Yahaya, commanding a staggering 20,000 loyal followers, headed to the office of the Daily Times. The offending material was a satirical cartoon in Fun Times magazine that the group alleged poked fun at Prophet Mohammed and Jesus Christ. The mob seized every copy, piled them in the street, and reduced them to ashes. Yahaya was a disciple of Ibrahim Zakzaky, a Zaria-based preacher who had already spent eight years in prison for his anti-government stance. Following the Daily Times incident, Governor Yahaya Madaki returned from a trip to Lagos to find a state on the brink. Despite his earlier threats of execution, he tempered his rhetoric in a subsequent interview, claiming he didn't consider the cleric a threat but rather a "nuisance." He insisted that while he respected freedom of demonstration, any threat to life would be met with the full force of the law. Read the full story from page 31: archivi.ng/editions/afric…

I've encountered multiple diasporas over the years. Members of such diasporas tend to be critical of their home government and its leaders. That is, after all, why many have chosen or been forced into a life of exile. Hatred - even irrational hatred - of such leaders is not particularly unusual. That said, I have never encountered a diaspora as extreme as certain sectors of the Iranian diaspora. These are people who fully understand that the agenda of the foreign powers they support is not only to overthrow their leaders but also to destroy their country. Nevertheless, they offer these foreign powers their unconditional support, openly celebrate the war of destruction being waged against their country and society, and viciously denounce and demonize compatriots who oppose said destruction in the most vile terms. I've never seen anything quite like it.
