When you question #Bitcoin   , I’m immediately suspect that: • You don’t understand Bitcoin • You don’t understand money • You don’t understand our financial system • You don’t understand energy • You don’t understand Austrian economics • You don’t know the history of monetary system failures • You’re independently wealthy and complacent about it • You’re an insider that benefits from the Cantillon Effect • You’re trying to pump your bags in other things • You think Bitcoin is merely a speculative investment Bitcoin is not an investment, it’s a paradigm shift in what hard money is and ought to be. You will learn the truth the easy way or the hard way.

The Schnorr precedent is underrated. Bitcoin already survived one signature algorithm upgrade without breaking consensus. The real debate isn't whether PQ signatures are needed. It's whether the current lattice based candidates have enough cryptanalysis behind them to trust at Bitcoin's scale. Rushing a weak PQ scheme would be worse than waiting.

To add to this, the thing that most people miss is that consensus among Bitcoin developers is that ECDSA will be broken at some point no matter what. Whether it’s a quantum computer that breaks ECDSA or a non-quantum computer is yet to be determined, but the cryptographers working on bitcoin acknowledge it will break at some point. This has already forced an exploration of a long-term replacement for reliance on ECDSA and it turns out that the potential upgrades being explored just so happen to also be quantum resistant. On top of this, there is already precedent that bitcoin can improve signature algorithms. The addition of Schnorr signatures, which added a new way of signing private-public key pairs within bitcoin. A signature algorithm upgrade isn’t foreign or unprecedented for bitcoin. As James stated, the challenge is weighing the tradeoffs of introducing the next cryptographic signature algorithm. The perceived tradeoffs differ depending on how imminent you believe a CRQC coming to market is. The evidence that I can gather leads me to believe that those trying to force a fast change are misguided and overly optimistic of a physical quantum computer actually *existing* and *scaling* on the timeline they’ve put forth. Slow, steady and thorough exploration of a reliable PQ signature algorithm is the best course of action in my opinion.
_Checkmate 🟠🔑⚡☢️🛢️@_Checkmatey_

A few thoughts on quantum: The debate around "if" vs "when" a CRQC comes to market is a fruitless one. You won't convince either side to switch, because there is little observable progress, and the risk is there may not be until its too late. The risk a CRQC comes to market is existential if Bitcoin doesn't have a credible plan of action. Risk is probability x consequence, and even if the probability is low, the consequence is 100%. Thus any sane actor should see developing a plan as worth the effort. Arguments that Bitcoin devs are doing nothing appear to be false. Arguments that 'we're all good, do nothing' are also mistaken. Reality is in between, it's a solveable issue, folks are working on it, AND we do NOT have a credible plan yet. Rushing PQ-cryptography is a massive risk, and is the wrong approach. Not developing a credible set of BIPs, is also a mistake. Coinbase and Nic absolutely have an incentive...to protect their bags and business models, which are massively long Bitcoin. They may also have incentives which are misaligned with Bitcoin, and yet that still doesn't disqualify their opinions. Coinbase has millions of BTC folks, they are the 'longest' entity in the world. Question them yes, but assuming pure malice without considering that they are capitalists looking after their interests, is frankly retarded. I'm a Bitcoiner who is massively long the asset (holdings and business), and I try my best to adopt a reasonable middle ground opinion of things. The two extremes of 'emergency' and 'no problem' are both wrong, because they do not understand the simple equation of risk = probability x consequence. I fully support the development of PQ BIPs for Bitcoin. I very much look forward to learning about the proposals, discussing the trade-offs, and doing what little I can to form consensus, and parse the complexities. Having a plan, and not needing it, is far better than needing a plan, and not having one. The truth is in the middle, and there is little benefit to debating in the quagmire of 'will-it, won't it' ever show up. A CRQC may never show up. In that case, the plan stays in the BIP repo as copy and unmerged, but fully reviewed code. What is a totally fucked result, is if we assume a CRQC won't show up, and then it does. Don't fuck this up, the middle ground is the correct path to walk. Probability x Consequence. Small number x 100% loss == take it seriously.

@0xrachelita Agreed. Wrappers are a risk and friction point. So why not issue USDC on Bitcoin directly via Taproot Assets protocol like other stablecoins?

$1.7T of bitcoin is sitting on the sidelines of DeFi. Not because people don't want yield or liquidity, it's because they don't trust the wrapper. cirBTC is Circle's answer: 1:1 backed, onchain-verifiable, and built on infrastructure the market already trusts. coming soon to @arc

No internet? No problem. Bala just dropped the ultimate cypherpunk demo at the BOSS Summit: From Off-Grid to On-Chain He literally broadcasted a live Bitcoin transaction using Mesh Radio. No ISPs, no Wi-Fi, no cellular data. Just pure radio waves bypassing the traditional internet layer to hit the mempool. When we say we are building unconfiscatable money for uncertain times, this is exactly what we mean. Mind blown. Here is the repo used to connect meshtastic to bitcoin core:github.com/BTCtoolshed/Me…

Enoch Burke@EnochBurke

BREAKING: Enoch Burke’s mother and sister arrested and jailed Martina and Ammi Burke were arrested by Gardaí today at Castlerea Prison after visiting jailed schoolteacher Enoch Burke, their son and brother. Judge Brian Cregan sentenced them to two weeks in prison after they spoke out against his lies and unlawful actions in the case of Enoch Burke. Martina and Ammi Burke had been teaching in Castlebar this morning before travelling to Castlerea for their scheduled visit at 2.15pm. As they left the prison after concluding the visit, Gardaí were waiting outside to arrest them. Lies have been told from the bench since September 2022 when Enoch Burke was first taken from his teaching post at Wilson’s Hospital School and thrown into a jail cell. He refused to call a student by a new name and the “they” pronoun. He was subsequently suspended and has now spent over 600 days in prison. Ireland’s church leaders have maintained a treacherous silence on this issue. Archbishops Eamon Martin and John McDowell speak frequently about battlefields far away - Gaza, Ukraine, the Middle East - but are silent on the battlefields in the schools of Ireland, on their own doorstep. Children in the classroom are being educated in every form of sexual perversion. Martina and Ammi Burke have now been sent to Mountjoy Women’s Prison because they refused to be silent in the face of gross injustice from the bench. Parents, rise up and speak out for your sons and your daughters.

AOC: And what are they asking for now? Endless energy. These companies are so desperate to profit from the AI boom that they are racing to construct thousands of giant AI data centers, jacking up utility costs for everyday Americans to pay for them. These data centers power thousands of high-intensity computer chips that are processing constantly and require massive amounts of energy to operate. Just one hyperscale data center consumes the same amount of energy in one second as 100,000 households. Because of this massive energy use, power and water utility companies must build multibillion-dollar infrastructure to keep up with the demand.

🚨Scammer Alert🚨 Got a call and email from scammers claiming my @Strike account had "strange activity" with an login IP from Germany or whatever. It's a real person, speaks perfect english, but it's a well trained scammer acting as "customer support". They already have your name, email, phone number and probably a bunch of other public data. So don't be fooled just by that. They apparently have the domain us-strike.com so it looks legit/hard to spot. I played along to see how the scam worked... They ask if you recently logged in from a (insert country) "Can you login to Strike?" If no, they try to get you to reset your password through their fake site as if it's a "support portal" via email. Then snag your password. DO NOT OPEN! If yes, they say your google account may be compromised and you should check your security parameters. Then they ask you to go to your account security settings. They ultimately are trying to get you to give them a 2FA code or backup codes so they can reset and control your accounts and steal your Bitcoin. Never trust these things. Hope this helps someone.

Rep. Thomas Massie is on the brink of securing a huge win for small farmers. His PRIME Act is officially included in the 2026 Farm Bill. If this passes, it will deliver a blow to Big Ag’s stranglehold on the meatpacking industry. “This would make it easier for local farmers to sell directly to local consumers using a local slaughterhouse.” How? It would cut the USDA out of inspections for local processing facilities. “You don’t need the USDA to inspect a facility that has seven employees.” “So what I’ve proposed is that you could just have the local health inspection… inspecting these slaughterhouses.” “As long as you don’t cross state lines, you shouldn’t need the federal government’s involvement in this processing.” “The good news is, I got that in the Farm Bill.” @RepThomasMassie

The very function of a hardware wallet is precisely to not rely on a 3rd party to have any access to your keys. To restrict this function means they're banning hardware wallets. The way they define a "hardware wallet provider" is way too broad. It could effectively mean anyone up & down the manufacturing & distribution chain, which is very problematic.
