When artists draw "perspective" of a highway, railroad, etc..in the distance they first draw an angle with the vertex touching the horizon line. The point it touches is called the "vanishing point". When an object gets to it there's an "uphill" effect that occults bottom up.

You have no geometric curvature, so yes figure 6.4 shows a tangent but your curvature has been refracted away. Without curvature no tangent lines, no radius.. no model.

What you have is an "arc of sight". Lines are parallel but what you have is just imaginary lines based on a limited location of perspective.

@sly_sparkane @GeistAstro @RozzieVox It gets smaller as it moves away… and of course we rarely see it due to atmospheric conditions but I’ve seen many videos of it.
