IT'S OFFICIAL: California Democrats are the Pro-Fraud party with their outrageous bill to gag fraud investigations. @carldemaio led the opposition but Democrats pushed it through. We will keep investigating @CalDogeOfficial As governor I will find, stop and PROSECUTE fraud.

You wanna get smarter about politics? Follow @upwardnews — we break down what’s really happening, without the spin or the noise, so you never miss what matters. In a move only Gavin Newsom could make, his PAC (Political Action Committee) spent $1.5 million to buy tens of thousands of copies of his new book ‘Young Man in a Hurry.’ According to sources, the PAC — whose name is the Campaign for Democracy Committee — bought more than 67,000 copies of the book, which ended up becoming a New York Times best seller. After being pressed to comment, Newsom’s office claims the mass purchase was aimed at fulfilling a fundraising promise. Last November, the Golden State’s governor announce that any contribution to his campaign would be sent a copy of the book. Newsom’s campaign claims the stunt was a net-positive with regards to raising funds. According to the New York Times, the books purchased by the PAC make up more than two-thirds of the memoir’s total sales. Newsom’s team claims that the governor does not receive commissions from the PAC’s purchase. Surprisingly, this strategy is not uncommon among politicians and the politics-adjacent. In 2019, the Republican National Committee bought $100,000 worth of Donald Trump Jr.’s book. More recently, former Vice President Kamala Harris did the same, although the offer to donors came after her memoir had already become a best seller. Still, the scale of the purchase by Newsom’s PAC is dramatic, and seems to many like an attempt to inflate the book’s sales, to garner it a spot on a roster of “best sellers” lists. What do you think? Was this a lame trick or a smart fundraising play?

🚨 California Democrats are ramming through a bill nicknamed the “Stop Nick Shirley Act” and it’s pure censorship disguised as “privacy protection.” The bill (AB 2624) is moving fast through the state Assembly. This bill is designed to silence anyone exposing fraud in taxpayer-funded programs. Independent journalist Nick Shirley nailed it: “If you expose fraud, here’s what can happen to you: a misdemeanor, a $10,000 fine, imprisonment, and your content gets deleted. That is absolutely crazy.” Gavin Newsom is PANICKING!

California is covering for criminals. Not punishing them. Not stopping them. Covering for them. The paper trail is bloodier and far worse than you could even imagine.🧵
