Guernsey Conservation Volunteers

Time for a visit to La Societe Guernesiaise orchid fields at Rue Rocheuse. GCV will be cutting Hemlock Water-dropwort so that it does not become dominant in these orchid meadows. Meet at 10am on Wednesday 15th April in the car park at L'Eree (car park with the ice cream kiosk).

Corporate volunteers play a big part in supporting GCV's conservation work and it was great to see another volunteer from @juliusbaer at Portinfer on Saturday to dig out Stinking Onions to allow space for native coastal plants to grow. Thanks for your help again Siobhan! 😁 #CSR

Time for another work party on Port Soif Common in the sunshine. GCV will be meeting at 10am on Wednesday 8th April to dig up Wild Leek which is becoming dominant on the Common and outcompeting the smaller, more delicate wildflowers. Why not come along and lend a hand? #volunteer

Sour Fig was removed from this site at Portinfer in 2021 and native plants have grown back but invasive non-native Stinking Onions have also moved in so it was time to do something about that! Great to see native Sea Sandwort growing - such a wonderfully symmetrical plant!! 😀
