@dlongenecker1 Respectfully disagree. In my view, if you add up all those profound differences/disagreements/heresies, their conception of God is so different I don’t think we are on the same side. It’s a different God.

Perhaps one of the lessons we should learn from the Vatican's welcome of Mrs Mullally is that, despite all our profound differences and disagreements, we are on the same side.

No Glenn. You're wrong. ABC has a federal broadcast license. This allows ABC access to billions of dollars of taxpayer funded infrastructure to send programming into every home in America. The Blaze does not have this. My show does not have this. Fox News does not have this. But ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS do. We are paying for Jimmy Kimmel's Trump and Charlie Kirk assassination jokes with our tax dollars, by force of the federal government. There are strict 'decency' and 'public interest' broadcast rules that come with this lavish taxpayer funded broadcast license privilege. Kimmel broke those rules by constantly promoting assassination culture. The FCC has every right to crack down -- and should.

Erika Kirk seen crying: “She’s so performative! Look at those fake tears!” Erika Kirk seen not crying: “Wow looks like she’s moved on pretty fast! Why isn’t she more upset??” Erika Kirk seen laughing: “What’s so funny? Her husband just died!” Erika Kirk seen frowning: “Why’s she scowling like that? What’s she so angry about???” Erika Kirk seen existing in public: “She should be home with her kids! She’s abandoned them!” Erika Kirk not seen existing in public: “Where is she? What is she hiding??? Why is she being so suspiciously quiet????” Erika Kirk seen eating pancakes: “Look at this stupid bimbo eating pancakes! Too good for waffles huh?” Erika Kirk seen eating waffles: “Really INTERESTING that she chose waffles of all things! Kind of suspicious if you ask me!”

Tolerating this confusion likely won over zero Anglicans but scandalized thousands of loyal Catholics who can't process this:

Summary of why Traditional Catholics exist, and why progressive elements within the Church want Trads obliterated: “By publicly treating Sarah Mullally as a valid archbishop — allowing her to lead prayers with the Pope, bless a real archbishop in the Clementine Chapel, and officiate Anglican vespers in a historic Roman Church — the Vatican is serving to affirm her in her ecclesial ‘trans’ identity and error.” - Ed Pentin.
Edward Pentin@EdwardPentin

The Vatican’s Feting of the First Female Archbishop of Canterbury Rather than aiding Christian unity, Rome's exuberant welcome of Sarah Mullally is likely to be a stumbling block to reaching it. edwardpentin.substack.com/p/the-vaticans… “By publicly treating Sarah Mullally as a valid archbishop — allowing her to lead prayers with the Pope, bless a real archbishop in the Clementine Chapel, and officiate Anglican vespers in a historic Roman Church — the Vatican is serving to affirm her in her ecclesial ‘trans’ identity and error. But if unity is to be real, it must be grounded in truth. Without that foundation, even the most gracious encounters risk becoming, in the end, the very stumbling blocks Pope Leo warns against, rather than steps toward communion.”

With the public scandal going on in Rome, For what then did these men die? Did they die martyrs so that the Church, with open arms, could welcome heretics into Her sacred spaces and give them places of honor? St Thomas More and St John Fisher, pray for us.

The death penalty question is back in the air, ever since Leo XIV doubled down on the error of his predecessor. No, the death penalty is NOT "inadmissible." It is NOT "per se contrary to human dignity and the Gospel." It is admissible. It is permissible. It is sometimes warranted. It is sometimes even necessary for the preservation of the common good. All this is clear from Scripture, Tradition, and the solemn, perennial Magisterium of the Church. The *only* issue that can be debated is whether it is prudentially right in this or that situation or context. For a quick overview of why this is the only coherent position a Catholic can take, see the lecture linked here, given in 2019, and the shorter article from 2023. Of course, the literature is vast; Ed Feser's work is particularly commendable for its careful attention to both argument and authority. So Congress, including Republicans, passed laws allowing your car to spy on you, which is hugely unpopular, but can’t pass voter ID, which is hugely popular.

@TheStaad Indeed. And that was started from the bad fall of Luther’s revolt. Germany has never fully recovered, and is now again leading the way in heresy/apostasy.

Aside from the Roman Empire, has there been a greater fall in human history than that of England? The church of a once powerful empire who even ruled America in its infancy is now represented by an apostate female “bishop” in a meeting with the man who holds the keys to the Kingdom and just happens to be an American I bet they didn’t see this coming 250 years ago

Pope Leo XIV vowed to keep working to overcome differences with the worldwide Anglican Communion during a meeting with its first female leader, the Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah Mullally. apnews.com/article/pope-m…

No. It means no one can believe anything anymore. The fault lies with a government that has consistently lied, a press that has consistently lied, political parties that have consistently lied. You reap what you sow. "This constant lying is not aimed at making the people believe a lie, but at ensuring that no one believes anything anymore. A people that can no longer distinguish between truth and lies cannot distinguish between right and wrong And such a people, deprived of the power to think and judge, is, without knowing and willing it, completely subjected to the rule of lies. With such a people, you can do whatever you want." ~ Hannah Arendt

I have posted elsewhere that last night's events will have a sobering effect on many media members in attendance. About 80% of respondents to those posts say I am nuts. But most people don't realize that the great majority of journalists see themselves as being good and decent people, and heroes in their own story. Do not underestimate the impact a sobering real world event can have in snapping such people out of their own illusions of virtuousness. I call it "The Bridge on the River Kwai Effect."
