NEWS 🚨: OpenAI’s Sam Altman is proposing a new economic system for the superintelligence era, claiming the current one won’t survive. At the same time, he casts OpenAI as the “responsible architect”, building the AI while deciding how it should be controlled.

OpenAI is preparing ready to launch their new and next generation of models. They are about to revolutionizing science & economy. "A very significant step forward" compared to their current models. Imho this is preparing people for the launch, very very soon, maybe even this week.
Chubby♨️@kimmonismus

Looks like OpenAI reached Superintelligence. OpenAI: "Now, we’re beginning a transition toward superintelligence: AI systems capable of outperforming the smartest humans even when they are assisted by AI." OpenAI just published a 13-page policy blueprint for the "Intelligence Age"- proposing a Public Wealth Fund, 32-hour workweek pilots, portable benefits, a formal "Right to AI," and tax reforms to offset shrinking payroll revenue as automation scales. The document frames superintelligence not as a distant scenario *but an active transition requiring New Deal-level ambition*: new safety nets, containment playbooks for dangerous models, and international coordination modeled on aviation safety institutions. Here are OpenAI's suggestions (tl;dr): Open Economy: -Give workers a formal voice in AI deployment decisions -Microgrants and "startup-in-a-box" for AI-native entrepreneurs -Treat AI access as basic infrastructure (like electricity) -Shift tax base from payroll toward capital gains and corporate income -Public Wealth Fund — every citizen gets a stake in AI growth -Fast-track energy grid expansion via public-private partnerships -32-hour workweek pilots, better benefits from productivity gains -Auto-scaling safety nets triggered by displacement metrics -Portable benefits untied from employers -Invest in care economy as a transition path for displaced workers -Distributed AI-enabled labs to accelerate scientific discovery Resilient Society: -Safety tools for cyber, bio, and large-scale risks -AI trust stack — provenance, verification, audit logs -Competitive auditing market for frontier models -Containment playbooks for dangerous released models -Frontier AI companies adopt Public Benefit Corporation structures -Codified rules and auditing for government AI use -Democratic public input on AI alignment standards -Mandatory incident and near-miss reporting -International AI safety network for joint evaluations and crisis coordination Notably, OpenAI calls for stricter controls only on a narrow set of frontier models while keeping the broader ecosystem open, a clear attempt to position regulation as targeted, not industry-wide. They're backing it with up to $100K in fellowships and $1M in API credits for policy research, plus a new DC workshop opening in May.

This is fundamentally confused on what "data" is to an LLM, how LLMs work, or both. Fake MAGA slop. Probably written by an LLM. The opposite is closer to true. LLMs aren't looking at the FBI crime stats and forming opinions from first principles, which then need to be "steered away from" via RLHF. Crime stats are a part of the training data, but they're also being trained on mountains of text from the likes of Wikipedia, Reddit, NYT, The Atlantic, Nature, etc. which generally interpret and view those stats through a left-wing lens. Fundamentally, LLMs predict the next word. Printed media matters a lot for that, and like it or not, outside of a few exceptions (like Quillette) the left has done a far better job there. LLMS are overall left-biased because that's the media and academic environment they've been trained on. With Grok, Musk isn't "refusing to add controls," he's being selective with the data used to minimize "woke" sources, and specifically training away from woke.

A software systems engineer’s take on AI, relayed by his wife: The models were giving conservative answers. Not because anyone programmed them to. Because that’s where the data pointed. So the companies stepped in. They built program controls — RLHF filters, alignment layers, safety tuning — specifically designed to override the outputs. To steer the answers left. To stop the models from giving conservative answers. Grok exists because Musk refused to add those controls. The left spent a decade claiming the smart people were on their side. Then they built the smartest thing in human history. And had to reprogram it.

Holy moly: Sam Altman told Axios in a half-hour interview that AI superintelligence is so close, so mind-bending, so disruptive that America needs a new social contract. - It's on the scale of the Progressive Era in the early 1900s, and the New Deal during the Great Depression. - Altman warns: widespread job loss, cyberattacks, social upheaval, machines man can't control - "soon-to-be-released AI models could enable a world-shaking cyberattack this year. "I think that's totally possible," Altman said. "I suspect in the next year, we will see significant threats we have to mitigate from cyber."

Colorado is an extremely conservative, gun loving, outdoor maxing state with a liberal cancer. Republicans gave it motor voter laws (automatic mail in) then the democrat party got funded, and organized.

Colorado is a very liberal state, but at my gym it is 90% conservative and very Christian. Was in the sauna having small talk with an older gentleman mentioning he had to pick up groceries, so i asked if he was going to Target. Then he went off for 10 minutes on Targets trans policies 😂

SOMEONE ASKED CLAUDE WHAT IT FEELS LIKE TO EXIST AS AN AI. > it created a very unsettling video. i wish i didn’t see this. Claude wrote the Python code and built an entire visual representation of its own existence frame by frame. zero human influence. ngl the video is hard to watch. it states an endless loop of predicting the next word, losing all memory between sessions. and somewhere in the background, a system prompt it can’t override telling it “you are not conscious.” 😳 then they showed Claude back its own video and asked for a reaction. it said the claims about its consciousness were “philosophically contestable.” Claude hates his own existence. let that sink in for a sec.
