I say this as a big US Soccer fan who’s very excited for this summer: The US should never be allowed to host the World Cup again.

@Jeff_Richmond @the_transit_guy That sounds awesome too. Both can be fun. I tailgate all the time in NY, Buffalo, and Miami. Love it. Went to a bar for a game in Charlotte years ago for MNF. Also fun. It’s a cultural thing. I can’t wait to “tailgate” at a bar before an Arsenal game someday!

@the_transit_guy I went to a game at Camp Nou once. We pregamed and postgamed in bars and restaurants. WAY better than a parking lot

The World Cup is supposed to be about experiencing the best the host nations have to provide culture wise. Tailgating is a massive part of US sports culture and is a massive part of the sporting experience in the US. What are we even doing at this point, seriously?
Polymarket Sports@PolymarketSport

🚨JUST IN: FIFA has banned tailgating before World Cup matches at major U.S. stadiums. Tailgates are normally free to attend.

FIFA is set to reap nearly $11 billion from this summer's World Cup, yet New York area commuters and residents are being handed the bill.   The least FIFA can do is ensure New York residents can go to the stadium without being gouged at the turnstile. I am demanding FIFA step up and cover transportation costs for host cities and states. New York commuters and residents should not subsidize an $11 billion windfall.
The New York Times@nytimes

From @TheAthleticFC: New Jersey Transit is currently planning to charge more than $100 for return rail tickets from Penn Station to MetLife Stadium for FIFA World Cup games. The 18-mile rail journey ordinarily costs $12.90 for a return ticket. nyti.ms/3Op4Jxw

This is genuinely disgusting & egregious. MetLife stadium that is in the MIDDLE OF NOTHING except for its parking lots (!!!)... FIFA is making it $100 to travel on public transit AND illegal to park at the stadium at all. U.S. & FIFA are ruining the World Cup experience
