Detroit Street View
Detroit Street View@DetroitStreetVu·
#Detroit, 580 Frederick, 1978-2022. This old home was built in 1892 for real estate developer Charles Warren. It was purchased in 1917 by the Allied Medical Society, made up of black physicians, and opened as 30 bed Dunbar Hospital, the first in the city to serve black Detroiters. After the growing Dunbar moved in 1928, the structure became the residence of state senator Charles Diggs, father of future congressman Charles Diggs Jr. The home was purchased by the Detroit Medical Society (the AMS's successor) in the '70's and given a $400K restoration in 1978. Despite some minor renovations over the years, it is in severe disrepair, shameless given its history and its National Register of Historic Places listing. The photos on both its Wikipedia and Nat'l Park Service pages are both 15 years old, not showing its current boarded up state. A 2016 Go Fund Me fundraiser barely raised $900. 580 Frederick deserves much better.

No need to complain about an ugly win ….. just know… what you don’t address will surface at some point again throughout the season. You need to establish a balanced off-season for a championship run. There’s never a convenient time to try to implement the run game but it has to be a legit variable that teams feel@threatened by

Extraordinary work again from @TeenVogue -- the best justice journalism outlet in the country. On the day that cash bail is finally eliminated in Illinois, they release a critical explainer on "Copaganda." How to identify & respond to lies & fearmongering about safety. Watch:

@Phil_Lewis_ Imagine how narcissistic you have to be to feel guilt about something other people did. You don't have to be "ashamed" of being white, you just need to acknowledge the past and learn from it.

A teacher in South Carolina was reported by her students for teaching Ta-Nehisi Coates’s “Between the World and Me.” The students explained that the book made them ashamed to be White, violating a clause forbidding teachers from making students “feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress” on race t.co/U0XJpuCtb8

and maybe, just maybe, the @Techstars enablers like @jpmorgan will eventually find out that there are minority owned accelerators at scale. They should be supporting them vs allowing TechStars to USE minority founders for their own expansion.

For many years, the Michelin Guide seldom shone a spotlight on Black-owned establishments. However, a handful of restaurants in major U.S. cities have broken through this barrier. Check them out: bit.ly/3LQRFg3
