The funniest thing about this currently "localization" drama is that they can't even pretend they did it because "there's no equivalent", because you can straight up see the other languages handling it fine where the english version stands out

Yunyun Syndrome came out. And the english localization has come under fire for being one of the worst ones yet: English translators caught 1. Removing Kaomoji 2. Inserting nonsense about fascism 3. Inserting trans stuff Examples: [japanese_ja] いらない [english_en] i'd cut my uterus out if i cld [korean_sa] 필요 없음 [spanish_la] No lo quiero. [french_fr] J'en veux pas [german_de] Brauch ich nicht. @returns_o15484 @Sokalekem I've not seen a lot of people dislike him before, but can I say that I genuinely cannot stand his videos at all? Even regardless of his opinions there's something about the way he narrates everything in the most overly exaggerated dramatic tone that just pisses me off.

@PhilippYuri @Promithean11 Not sure if it'd be an ideal solution, but what if you had the full sentence and then you cut it out just the moment something happened. Like someone saying "nice try" with the subtitles becoming "Nice tr-" only after they actually get to that part of the word. Keeps you guessing

@Promithean11 How about incomplete sentences like: "could you ple-", then you know something is about to happen because the character didn't finish the sentence?! So many surprising and unexpected moments ruined because of that. AoT Episode 5 final scene be like that for most subs

@ZeldaZealot It's funny how cleanly he does it too. It being sloppier wouldn't fix the core issue but they could have at least made it so that he just barely manages to do it at the last second, maybe getting a minor burn in the process. Instead he perfectly reforms it into a wall, first try.

In contrast Bolin runs toward a lava flow, SHUTS HIS EYES, stops it, pushes it back, cools it down, and says the equivalent of “well that just happened.” No training, nothing. He didn’t even know he could do it, and he does it perfectly, with his eyes shut.

Alright I knew idiots would bring this up. It might’ve been a bit since we’ve seen the original series so let’s rewatch the scenes together first because it’s genuinely one of the best sequences in the show and shows why bending is one of the best power systems in fiction.

いつの間に日本人のオタクが生来海賊版を忌避するモラルの高い人々になったんですか？ソフマップのような大手ショップがもともとレンタルソフト屋という名の海賊版ソフト屋だったことは誰でも知っている事実だし、2000年代にエロゲーが若者文化の象徴になったのも深夜アニメを皆が見るようになったのも俺ぐらいの特定の世代の人間がAdobeのソフトに習熟しているのも全部海賊版があったからでしょ。すぐばれる嘘をついてどうするの。
