Over the objections of top Army leaders Hegseth has removed 2 Black and 2 female officers from one-star promotion list.

@amuse @GregJaffe So we remove them based on race, and nothing else?! That's racism, you Nazi biggot!
English

@GregJaffe This is the only way to fix the military. Anyone promoted based on race ought to be reevaluated based on skill. The DEI pipeline has got to be severed.

@NealKay52 @gaugler_j @classic_film And Jimmy always had the same accent, even as Alfred Kralik working in a shop in Budapest, Hungary 🫤
English

@gaugler_j @classic_film Well Jimmy was by far the better actor. Clark didn't even have an accent in GWTW.

It's Round 2 in the #1930sLeadActor Tournament as we reduce the field from 8 to 4. Voting for today's four impossible match-ups ends at 10:30 pm EDT. Here is match-up #1:
English

@HollywoodYeste1 @classic_film Exactly! Clark Gable was The King of the screen in the 1930s. Judy Garland sang "Dear Mr. Gable" to a photo of him! Jimmy truly became a star in the 40s & ruled the 50s. If you're voting Jimmy over Clark in a #1930sLeadActor tournament, you need to explain yourself.
English

There is no star I like better than Mr. Stewart (a few tie, but none top) BUT given that this is for actors in the 30s, I believe Clark Gable deserves to advance.
His films during this time include:
Night Nurse
Dancing Lady
Red Dust
No Man of Her Own
It Happened One Night
Manhattan Melodrama
San Francisco
Call of the Wild
Gone with the Wind
Like William Powell and Cary Grant, Clark Gable meant the world to the world to 1930s films.

@UncleWalt1971 But it was an amazing ride experience! Pretty sure I was around 6 the first time we did Imagination. Loved the interactive post-ride area as well.

The original 1983 version of Journey Into Imagination at EPCOT had one of the most complicated ride systems Disney ever built. Guests loaded onto an Omnimover-style track that transitioned into a PeopleMover-type system where trains of four vehicles could independently speed up or slow down along the 1,460-foot track.
The showstopper was a massive 75-foot-diameter turntable hidden in the first major scene. Five identical Dreamcatcher vehicles rotated in perfect sync with the ride track, while moving walls isolated each group so riders swore they were seeing the only Dreamfinder blimp in the room. The turntable was an absolute technical nightmare. The giant rotating platform caused so many breakdowns during testing that the entire attraction opening was delayed by nearly six months. Imagineers reportedly couldn’t get the massive central axle and synchronized walls running reliably. Also, two proposed roller-coaster drops where vehicles would have a burst of speed down a hill had to be reworked. The rides’ 83 drive motors were also giving Imagineers problems.
The system was engineered for massive capacity that it never quite achieved. The split-train design theoretically allowed continuous loading/unloading and over 2,200 guests per hour. In practice the finicky turntable and independent vehicle controls made it one of the most maintenance-heavy rides in Epcot history, leading to frequent downtime in the early years. #EPCOT #DisneyFacts

William Wyler had range.
He knew how to guide performances and craft stories.
The "genre" did not matter. Just damn good film making.

@EJMkamp @classic_film I didn't even think of Mickey Rooney, as most of his movies that I like (and best known) were made in the 40s.
English

@classic_film I'm a bit surprised by the absence of Mickey Rooney. I almost nominated him, but figured he'd be a shoo-in
