Tom Steyer has done some good things for California. But his latest idea is going to make California a lot more expensive. @TomSteyer says he wants to hold a special election to raise your taxes and weaken Prop 13. Let’s talk about what that really means. First, the special election itself will cost us at least $282 million. That’s money that could be spent on schools, safety, and housing. Second, raising taxes on businesses, especially small businesses, will make just about everything in California even more expensive. In the last six years the California state budget has grown from $200 billion to nearly $350 billion. Did you feel like government got $150 billion better? I don’t. We need more money to protect Californians from Trump cuts. But let’s start by cutting waste and making government more efficient.
