Curtis is conflating a lot of different concepts it is hard to keep track of.
Rules:
A nation exists regardless of government structure
A nation has an ancestral essence that is uniquely its own
Variations exist within the temporal tribe and throughout history and no variation is entirely its own.
Americans, Aussies, and Canadians are all Anglo but none are British but all four carry with them aspects of the English.
Political formula does not equal ideology.
The political formula + grievances dictates the “fake and gay” ideology not the other way around.
The American Revolution occurred due to imperial negligence by the crown and pre-dates the war of Independence.
Just because a people doesn’t care about whatever prior event in their lineage does not divorce the event from the people. Homer is no less Greek if modern Greeks don’t recognize it as such and vice versa. King Alfred the Great is no more Saxon for not recognizing Henry, Elizabeth, or you today. Being Saxon is not a list of beliefs that we have to check for like an ideology. You don’t assent, you either are or aren’t.
