Yes, I did keto several times for up to 8 - 9 months at a stretch in my early 30s. It was pretty good - particularly the noticeable mental clarity and lack of bloating etc. I tried to do it again in my 40s and ended up hospitalsed 3 times within a week of starting. I think it was pancreas related, but there was more to it than that. Carnivore I have tried to get into a few times but I end up going down the same drain as the keto-gone-wrong before it.
So, I'm just not compatible with it, it seems.

Keto is not special. It’s just another ‘nuisance diet’ - a way of cutting calories by doing restrictive things - not some insulin magic. Keto only works because CICO does.

The best evidence shows NO DIFFERENCE between low carbohydrate and low fat diets for improvements in insulin resistance. And. This is largely explained by the weight loss itself. Low carb is not magic. Or special. Or particularly different.
