@ANGC_burner What people are forgetting is that places like Shinnecock/Oakmont are awesome courses but SEEM cooler primarily because they're ultra private - turn them into public venues with 60k rounds/year and mystique falls off. Torrey as a US Open course (the substance here) is upper tier

@flognoevili @TronCarterNLU If you play the course in peak condition, it's pretty amazing and hard as hell - much better in person than on TV, which doesn't do the contours justice. Biggest downside to me is aesthetics-doesn't feel as isolated as a Shinnecock, Oakmont, Pebble, etc. And practice areas suck.

@werebearut @TronCarterNLU It needs more trees, unfortunately it's gone the opposite direction - bunch of trees at the '08 Open that have since been knocked down by storms. The hospitals bordering the east side of the course all also a crappy look, but never going to escape that.

@JesusShuttlewor @TronCarterNLU I think the biggest thing hurting Torrey Pines is the utterly bland petri dish design. Magnificent setting, and I am sure they go all out as a host. But it's just not an interesting course for major tournament golf.
