What bothers me about elected officials is that when 80% of the American public supports a valid photo ID to vote, and you oppose it, you're no longer representing the people but your own political ideology. This is why I am so outspoken, because I want our elected officials in Washington to work together to support common-sense 80/20 policies.

My friend, I think both sides are spinning. If I were a U.S. senator from the Democratic Party, I would introduce a bill today requiring only a valid driver's license to vote. You can't criticize the other side if you don't have an alternative. I would let the American people see that I'm offering an alternative supported by 80% of Americans.

@charlesharriso5 So much is just spin. Republicans act like the SAVE act is the only logical solution for a Voter ID law. If they put forward a law where a valid Drivers License or State ID was enough this would get majority support. This isn’t that. 80/20 support is Voter ID, not the Save Act

The status quo is simply unacceptable because our elections have become too controversial. The American people, by an 80/20 margin, support requiring a valid ID to vote. This is the problem with our elected officials: they cannot compromise to find a solution that the American people want. It's crazy that you don't have to have a valid ID to vote when you have to have it for almost everything else in our society these days.

@GrammarHippy @FoxNews The weak argument is that because someone does one good thing, we must praise them and fawn over them for everything they do, no matter how terrible it might be, or the reverse. Or, we just maintain our credibility and say “thanks for this. No thanks for everything else.”

I’m grateful to the East Chicago NAACP and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority for having me speak at their voter forum in the Region earlier this week. All Secretary of State candidates were invited. One independent and two Democrats participated. Unfortunately, no Republicans running for that office attended.

@charlesharriso5 Sounds like maybe retribution for not voting for Belichick for HOF. Not sure if that’s true but I find that more credible than the anti-Christian take when he’s been the same guy his entire life and that’s never been a problem.
