@PeterBone1 @henrywinter Most clubs make charity donations. They could have said that they went over because they paid Daryl Dike £2m this season but they have chosen to blame a more emotive reason instead. PSR doesn't care what the money was spent on. It just cares that too much was spent

So a club can sell its hotel to itself, sell its women’s team to itself, but West Brom are punished, they believe, for legitimate “in-kind” donations to the Albion Foundation, its charity partner that saves lives. Albion also believe the alleged PSR breach is “less than £2m”

@Samwinton99 @HJMKent @henrywinter If you know what’s gone on at West Brom you’d be surprised that the current owners have managed to do such a good job. Almost went bankrupt because the Chinese were taking money out of the club and taking high interest loans to keep going. No advantage gained, no cheating.

@HJMKent @henrywinter They are claiming this is the reason for the breach. The tribunal clearly didn't accept that as a justification and absolutely no one on here k is the full facts. Any club operating within £1-2m of the PSR cap is not properly managing their finances

@balhampa @henrywinter The current owner of 2.5 years is cleaning up the mess of the previous owner who was taking money out of the club and then getting high interest loans to keep the club running. No advantage has been gained by West Brom. No cheating. If anyone is to answer it should be the FA.

@henrywinter Agreed that the bigger clubs who manipulate the rules should be punished but only getting a 2 point deduction for breaking the rules is crazy, will it encourage other clubs to risk breaking the rules if that’s all they get

@CJHall83 @AlbionAnalysis @ChapmanJ92 Definitely knocked his confidence and I know that’s more important for keepers but Mozza has restored the confidence of several outfield players. I wouldn’t be against keeping him but I think we could find better relatively cheaply and it’d probably be good for Josh.

@JohnWMay @AlbionAnalysis @ChapmanJ92 Yeah I appreciate that John, I just think confidence is a huge part of it with keepers and I wonder how much JG’s has been damaged. I agree though that were mitigating factors but the outcome may still be the same

@RobDorsettSky Who’s CFO at #WBA @AliJones9 ? Because any idiot knows interest on bank loans taken to fund the football club are included in PSR. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

#wbafc: key area of dispute between Albion and EFL is over interest payments on loans taken out by Lai. If those £5m payments are included in PSR calculations, they are in breach. Club claims they shouldn’t be. Full explanation here. skysports.com/share/13532064

@bassywolves @RobDorsettSky And the reason we had to take out the loan? The previous crook of an owner was giving loans from West Brom to his other companies, interest free.

@RobDorsettSky What a crock of 💩 this is. A previous owner took out a loan. That loan & interest is in the 3 year cycle. So Albion chose not to comply this season believing they would get away with it. Another sale or would have made them compliant, it was a choice

@NatEvaJudeD I agree. While Leicester blatantly ignore the rules, we worked hard to stay within them and potentially only just exceeded them. Many mitigating factors. Think we’ll get a suspended points penalty.

I’m going suspended deduction. Albion have done all they can with the efl. As it stands in 3 years time we’ll be well in. The damage was also under different ownership. #wba

@Albion316 We haven’t cheated. The problem is the excessive expenditure of the previous management. They signed players on damaging contracts - some of these players we’ve struggled to move on. We all know they’ve worked hard at putting this right.

@StigsWBACousin No, the EFL approve spending based on the clubs forecast. The club controls its own accounts. The EFL are not liable for any exceedances.

If we get relegated could we sue the efl for incompetence? #wba

@CJHall83 Just been doing a bit of reading. If Kieran Maguire is correct, this will be small breach - the smallest ever as far as I can find out. Surely with many mitigating circumstances this will be a suspended points deduction at most.

This is dreadful news, you just have to hope that with the charge coming this late in the season that any penalty would be applied to next season. Surely anything else hurts the integrity of the competition. #wba
John Percy@JPercyTelegraph

Excl: #wba have been charged with an alleged breach of P & S rules. Charge relates to 24/25 season and a points deduction (possibly minor) is very possible. The big question is: will it be applied this season? telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/…

@JPercyTelegraph From what I gather, though you will probably know, there has never been such a potentially small breach. There are many mitigating factors. I’d be surprise if this wasn’t a suspended 2/3 points for 12 months.

If its true then either we've been a bit mislead regarding last years financials as everything from Shilen and the club was saying that we'd got through last year. If they were wrong and not lying then they've messed up on the financials. The one thing they were good at. #wba
