The “Real” Donald Trump
@michellelprice @maggieNYT @jonathanvswan While we’re stereotyping, I’d point out that Indians (e.,g., Usha Vance) also live gold, but that matters not because neither Vance nor that cocksucker Rubio have a snowball’s chance in hell of ever occupying the Ival Office.

New @maggieNYT @jonathanvswan book describes how, after Trump redecorated the Oval Office to fill it with gold flourishes, someone asked the president about the likelihood that the next president would undo all that he done. Trump said: “Cubans love gold.” apnews.com/article/trump-…

@mattyglesias The last "non advanced" reactor built in the US cost 18 billion dollars. So it didn't solve any problems. If advanced reactors can't bring costs way down nuclear energy is a goner.

DOGE did a ton of terrible stuff but if NRC reform works it will benefit many more people than “Silicon Valley-backed advanced reactor firms” — abundant clean energy would be really good for the whole world!
Avi Asher-Schapiro@AASchapiro

Seth Cohen—the DOGE official who was a driving force behind much of the Trump admin's nuclear energy policy—resigned. He was one of the key figures reshaping the regulatory environment to benefit Silicon Valley-backed advanced reactor firms. x.com/OverReactor177…

@BulwarkOnline Juneteenth observes the liberation of slaves under the Emancipation Declaration. This only applied to states that had seceeded and fought the Union. Several slave states did not seceed and maintained slavery (Kentucky, Delaware e.g.). Those slaves were only freed by the 13th.

"Juneteenth isn’t a holiday that fits into the cartoonishly whitewashed Trumpist view of American history...[The Trump Administration] spend[s] a good deal of time and effort weaponizing those fictions and turning them into grievances for their own political advantage." Andrew Egger and Bill Kristol on why we should celebrate Juneteenth this year. lnk.thebulwark.com/4fVYPzo

Israeli forces struck over 150 sites in Lebanon today, straining the US-Iran peace deal. Iran continues to insist on a permanent ceasefire in Lebanon before talks can continue, though Iranian officials deny that Hormuz has been closed again.

@karenlgrennell @TrueFactsStated We will have to wait and see if Outfront Billboards gets doxxed and then threatened for allowing this billboard. Would not surprise me. Could set a precedent for later midterm billboard messages.

BREAKING: LOL! Trump flies into a total panic over the Reflecting Pool algae as a leaked email reveals that his administration has labeled it a "national priority" and is scrambling to hire cleaners. This has turned into one of his defining disasters... According to an email obtained by MeidasTouch, National Park Service employees have been informed that "additional personnel" are being recruited to "assist immediately" with "critical pre-July 4th operational needs" at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. This new development is just the latest humiliation for Trump in this never-ending pool saga. First, he wasted $13 million "renovating" the pool in a desperate bid to shore up some kind of physical legacy for himself. Then, when disgusting green algae bloomed in the pool, he sent in workers to vacuum up the growth. When that failed, he had his minions dump hydrogen peroxide in, which only resulted in more discoloration. With his big July 4th celebrations just around the corner, he's desperate to fix the problem. The email explains that workers are needed for 12-hour shifts performing “scrubbing and pump out operations." It describes the problem as a "regional and national priority." Yet again, we see Trump focusing on something that doesn't matter at all while Americans struggle to afford groceries and gas. There has never been a more checked out, lazy, out-of-touch President. On top of that, this is another reminder of this man's staggering incompetence. He made a huge deal out of cleaning up and beautifying the pool and now he can't even manage that. Please ❤️ and share if you're loving this algae!

@atrupar The only good thing about this clip is watching the body language of Trump’s two lackeys in the background. Do I feel sorry for them? Not one bit!

Trump: "In war, terrible things happen. Like you mentioned the school gets hit. Other things get hit. Bad things happen in war. War is a nasty place. I see it. I see it better than maybe anybody has ever seen it."

@marcthiessen Would probably need more than 100000 troops given IRGC alone is 150000, then add in regular military forces. Sight of foreign troops on Iranian soil would coalesce population behind regime. That's what happened in Iran-Iraq war. Would be a tough slog.

By his own metrics stated in Feb, at the war's beginning, Trump has humiliatingly lost this war of choice with Iran. Iran won by regime surviving with its uranium -- and gained the bonus of de facto control of Hormuz. America now has its own Suez. Dammit! roddreher.substack.com/p/trump-loses-…

@JakeWSimons @Telegraph If there is one day a nuclear exchange in the Middle East that basically turns the whole region to rubble would Americans care? No! They would go on about there lives with very little pity for a hopeless pathetic region of the world.

See what is going on? From Europe to Washington, our leaders’ weakness, gullibility, narcissism, ideology, short-sightedness and lack of moral compass are making us putty in the hands of Tehran. In this historic game of chess, the West is being quietly outflanked. My @Telegraph column: telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/06/1…
