@AdrianoAguzzi This situation reminds me of Stephen Fry's quote: It’s a strange paradox that liberals are illiberal in their demand for liberality, exclusive in their demand for inclusivity, & demand homogeneity/uniformity in their demand for heterogeneity/diversity. And that's a terrible pity

Excited to announce that the Brahma Lab opens its doors @UNMC_GCBA @NebraskaMed next spring! We'll continue solving fundamental puzzles in chromatin biology and gene reg. using genomics and biochemistry. Of course, the Brahma (BAF/SWI-SNF) complex will receive special attention!!

Absolutely thrilled that our project PADRE (in collaboration with Tom Sexton, @ChrisGinestier & @Emmachadtem ), studying enhancer activation during cellular transitions has been selected for @AgenceRecherche funding!!! 🥳🥳🥳🍾🍾🍾

@chrstn_e Yes, especially if you (A) have published since you last applied &/or (B) are targeting places with a relatively lower profile than the ones you applied to last time. Beware of the survivorship bias in the advice you are getting.

What role does the bivalent chromatin play in differentiating stem cells? Dr Dhirendra Kumar from @Jothi_Lab will join us next Monday to present his latest research on the regulatory role of bivalency in maintaining epigenetic plasticity. Joins via zoom. No registration required.

@meleckmas @GenomeBiology @GenomeResearch will make it available shortly right after the final version is typeset for publication. In the meantime, we can email it if requested. We will also try to make it available on our lab website by the end of the day

Decoding the function of Bivalent Chromatin in development and cancer. Bivalency does NOT poise genes for rapid activation BUT protects promoters from de novo DNA methylation. Bivalent domains have a function after all! tinyurl.com/375t57zr

New insights on the function of bivalent chromatin. Bivalency does NOT poise genes for rapid activation BUT protects reversibly repressed genes from irreversible silencing. ‘Poised’ RNA Pol II incompatible with transcription; H3K4me3 not instructive disq.us/t/3t9kpqt

@benbfly (2/2) Since we define poised promoters as those with (promoter-proximal) histones H3 carrying the K4me3 modification, which cannot also be K4me1-modified, I don’t see how K4me1 can directly be over TSS unless the two copies of H3 in a nucleosome are asymmetrically modified
