The Govt can and should appoint an independent person to the NACC to investigate Robodebt. After constraining the NACC’s ability to hold public hearings, it’s disappointing to see the lack of action to rebuild trust following the decision not to investigate the Robotdebt saga.

Research from the Centre for Future Work shows that sacking public servants actually costs the country a fortune, as public jobs are replaced by consultants, contractors and labour hire workers. “Promising to reduce the size of the public service is a cheap political stunt.”
