For years on end I avoided games that had me play a male character as it felt weird to identify with that. If a girl character wasn't available I would avoid the game even if the story was great.
And I know for a fact, cis women played male characters but you hardly got a complaint from them about that.
Now here is a female character and men are losing their minds.

The “female characters have no sex appeal anymore” argument gets weird when research literally shows movement shapes attractiveness. Gait, posture, rhythm, hip movement, all matter. Sometimes the appeal is not a perfect screenshot but how she carries herself through the world.
