@MarvinTBaumann You're joking. The entire middle east was a tinder box because of them. Do you forget the red sea crisis in late 2023???

The disconnect between Europe and the US right now, even with halfway reasonable people like Pompeo, is insane right now. They have no idea the wreckage they have brought onto the world, that stands in no comparison to the low global threat Iran posed to most countries.
Tymofiy Mylovanov@Mylovanov

Pompeo: It breaks my heart, but NATO allies have been feckless — unable to support or explain US and Israeli strikes on Iran. After this, the US will have to rethink who its real allies are and what it can rely on them for. 1/

@D4RW1NEXE @Polymarket Honestly I think that's fine that a vpn can access it. The system shouldn't be impenetrable just high effort enough that kids don't have access. It shouldn't be an excuse for absent parenting.

@carlowlad715482 @danobrien20 Someone has to pay for the system that facilitates it. Other places it's through higher corporate taxes, which would negate irelands benefits. High inequality leads to high crime and corruption. There is no free lunch.

@Koolkat6000 @James09959617 @danobrien20 Yeah, and I still struggle to feed my family and pay my bills. It's barely worth it. I could default on my mortgage and never get evicted and get 650 a week in handouts, plus whatever I earn doing nixers. It's all so tiresome.

@Koolkat6000 @BBCWorld they cannot be held accountable for their actions while in office and even afterwards. If there are rewards and consequences for actions of leaders then there's no accountability and without this there's no democracy.

@Koolkat6000 @BBCWorld All the non western countries that have succeeded in the last generation were non democracies. All those that stuck to democracy - Brazil, Mexico, Jamaica, Nigeria, Kenya, Pakistan, India, Indonesia, the list goes on - are violent, unequal states that are lagging heavily behind.

Correct. Democracy is a sham that is not a pre requisite for development and is often simply a way to keep the same elites rotating in power, not to mention its openness is championed by the west so it can more easily interfere in elections. You cannot develop without a 10-20 year national plan that’s unimpeded. Democracy ensures you’ll never develop, in fact democracy in the global south is a greatest predictor of violence. Build political systems that work for you, not ones invented by slave owners in the North Atlantic.

@BBCWorld Many of our ancestors in Africa practised real democracy in its truest form. They agreed on how they wanted to be governed. Which is the first step. Then they selected those who would represent them as leaders eg elders/family heads. You may not agree with their selection methods

@carlowlad715482 @danobrien20 They only pay that on income above the threshold not on their entire income. That's completely untrue. Our net inward migration is bonkers. Lower taxes would just make HSE situation worse.

@Koolkat6000 @danobrien20 Average workers hit 50%+marginal rates at modest pay, exactly as the original post said.Ireland’s productivity is overwhelmingly from multinationals on 12.5% corp tax,not personal rates. Domestic sectors suffer chronic shortages, talent loss.,and HSE queues etc from disincentives

@carlowlad715482 @danobrien20 And its not true, it is not 50% tax on modest income. To get an effective tax rate of near 50% ,youd have to earn over €300 000 per annum.

@carlowlad715482 @danobrien20 Exactly. The current setup works. What you are saying doesn't refute my point. You just ignored what I said that refutes your point about growth,Ireland has 1 of highest growth rates despite it, implying this is the current winning setup.
