Checking out my office for the next five days here in Iowa City. Stat duty for NCAA WBB alongside @MattSchumacker_ and @ROSGO21 starts tonight at 9:00 pm ET on ESPN2 as Arizona State faces Virginia in a first four opening round game and continues through Monday.

Anyone know why @TheAthletic no longer lets you view all the archived stories for a team? Used to be able to read all the articles from a season (or more!) about any one team. Now they cap how far back you can read. Odd. (Admittedly filed under: Nerdy, tech, play-by-play)

@jimmyconnelly @hockey_east @EdTrefzger @USCHO Should probably also be written into the NCAA rulebook for next year too that such a situation causes a delay of game penalty with a penalty shot option had that been a breakaway and not a 2-on-1.

Hockey East has sent out a memo banning "the use of any theatrical lights, dimming, or strobe effects after goals are scored" for the rest of the season. That's efficient work right there. The NCAA committee can deliver the knockout blow this summer. 👍👍

@FightMA01003 @uconnhockeyctl both of your comments make perfect sense. I would be surprised if something is not formally put into the rulebook next year to address this situation where it is a delay of game minor if a team loses a scoring chance due to something like that.

If there is a rule for a penalty on the home team for fans throwing things on the ice (there is) then the refs could have easily called that an unsportsmanlike conduct bench minor (they should have) UMass deserved a penalty there and I don't think anyone would have disagreed

Cav on the coaches show called the light malfunction an “Unfortunate Situation” Apparently the refs were upset that they had to blow the play dead but had no choice. There wasn’t a penalty on the play because there isn’t really a rule in the rule book about it according to Cav.

Wondering if it had been planned for weeks waiting for a win that never came so now they have to with 1 left

Very tight for 20 before the Irish took charge. My guess is something would have told that game story numerically which is the crux of my job.
