It's "Special Assault Force" in the Dark Horse/ Kodansha's manga volume 1.
It's "Armored shell exoskeleton unit" in Dark Horse's Appleseed ID.

It's funny that they have always used "Ghost in the Shell" for the franchise title and "Section 9" for the team name, so they don't have a regular translation for "koukaku kidoutai" yet.

I dunno how Mann shoots his muzzleflashes that makes them feel so violent. Countless movies have blank firing guns with case ejections but they don't feel the same. I wonder if it's something like how they don't synchronize with the camera's shutter speed or somethings

@dashalosesit @St1ka In terms of letting you do creative things with game mechanics they are not very similar.
In terms of being millenarian dark urban conspiracy first-person roleplaying games with stealth, melee, shooting, hacking, and a lot of talking to people, they're basically the same game.

- It's *very* like DX, an imsim
- It's very immersive
- It has an imsim-like tendency to immerse you in procedural minutae: navigate clunky databases in netcafes to find graves and outstanding bail bonds.

The 1965 real-life "boys stranded on a desert island" happened, proving that Lord of the Flies was a completely wrongheaded take on the idea. But a certain group of creators really like the idea that humans are really terrible unless some central controlling government keeps us from killing each other. Hobbes started this idea, but it lives on for some reason. Yes I read the Lord of the Flies, and it had the big impact on me that it does on everyone. It's still a lie.

@SSgtKotyk There's a lot of variations of that joke. The one on the left is one I saw back in, like, the late 90's. (I grabbed it from a site about as old, 2002.) F-16.net also has their own version that Wayback Machine caught in 2008.

NPCs don't just lack their own thoughts and only know how to repeat things they've heard. They also don't know how to react in situations they weren't prepared for. Anything that doesn't follow the "script" makes them glitch out.
