Forget the substance of the MOU or the conflict, and just consider the position JD is in. He has to defend the administration, knowing proponents of the war will be hostile to him, and opponents of the war will be skeptical of anything he says. He has to keep cool, communicate well, show attention to detail. He is demonstrating again a real talent for communication.

JD Vance on lifting sanctions: We didn't see that as a major concession to the Iranians, frankly — Iran... didn't see that as a concession to them, because what prevented them from selling oil was not the sanctions. They were selling plenty of oil without any discount, because the sanctions were just fundamentally ineffective. At that point, what the sanctions did do is move the Iranian financial system to sort of the shadow banking system. By lifting the sanctions, we are actually going to be able to see a little bit where their financial system sends money and receives money. That's a real benefit.

And Trump can't put boots on the ground to end it for political reasons so a negotiated settlement was the only possible outcome

Is there even a shred of evidence to support this claim? Because I am not aware of any such evidence. And the global oil prices that have prevailed since February tell me that neither were oil markets. This looks like panic to me, or acting on very bad advice.

Trump didn't have to tell the Iranian people to continue marching, which got them killed by the Arab puppets who occupy their government.
He didn't have to tell them to stop and shelter indoors, which got them rounded up and executed by same.
