@Owls_4_America @cqcqcqdx You can literally see unpopulated pins in the image shown. Also dead bugging is almost always a "I fucked up a footprint and don't want to respin until I know it works electrically." Long term durability is a non issue

@cqcqcqdx Why would need to hook up every wire ? Often you don’t use all functions of a chip simultaneously. Also if you don’t use silicon wires you are gonna be miserable later on when all your traces start tearing up.

This image depicts a complex soldering technique known as "dead bug" prototyping or "flying wiring".Dead Bug Prototyping: This technique involves placing a chip upside down—like a dead bug—and soldering wires directly to its pins to connect it to a circuit board.

@WhatYouThinkIT1 @VB_tins You can make the argument that a true track hyper car could be EV. But even then we've been shown repeatedly that people would still rather buy something with a screaming engine.

@WhatYouThinkIT1 @VB_tins You are why people keep trying and failing to make ev supercars. You can't apply a purely rational argument to high end sports cars and supercars. People want the *experience*. That's why they had to put a manual in the GT3 911, despite it being a worse performer.

The problem with EV design is they're still trying to make them look like ICE cars. Like in the early days of cars they made them look like horse carriages. We need someone courageous to throw away the rule book and design an EV from the ground up in an original way. Jony Ive wasn't the guy.
Branche°@Branche_SC

Is there something I don’t know about EV engineering that makes them impossible to design in a cool way I get that aerodynamics and weight are a lot more important but surely sacrificing 10 miles of range to not look like a jumped up Prius is worth it right

@JF3DRI @taizou50 You're not getting the full story with that type of probing. The truth is your skin has *impedance*. Namely your skin is capacitive. High impedance at dc but low at ac. Thus it takes a higher voltage to pass meaningful current DC vs ac to say nothing of how they affect muscles.

@BasilFranken @lizisamused Social pressure has always been a factor in everything. You're a fool if you think you were immune to it in your youth. More importantly though: It's not a lux lifestyle. It is the NORM that YOU BOOMERS have NORMALIZED among YOUR CHILDREN.

Liz Is Amused
Liz Is Amused@lizisamused·
Here in reality: - I know more people in their 30s & 40s who still have to live with roommates than ever before - Many people can barely afford used cars because they've exploded in price - Many can't afford vacations or they split a place with friends when they go - He's correct on DoorDash - Most people aren't getting a new iPhone constantly & a lot of jobs require a smartphone so it's a need, not a want I don't get how people can be this out of touch. Housing & healthcare costs have gone up an insane amount compared to income over the decades. That's most of the problem!
Joe Cassandra@JoeCassandra

Here's your harsh truth: Inflation isn't the problem. You just think you're entitled to every luxury. - You don't want to live in a 1000 sq ft house, it has to be 3000 sq ft - You need to drive a new car every 4 years - Vacation has to be at a nice hotel with room service - Dinner has to be Door Dashed because you're tired - I need a new iPhone every 18 months - Everyone goes to Disney World, so I deserve to as well No you don't. Make more money or be quiet. You're not entitled to eat out every day. Growing up, we ate out 2x a month, and it was a bag of burgers and a few large fries we split. "We shouldn't have to live like they did in the old days" No luxury is an entitlement. You still have to put in the work to afford it.

@BasilFranken @lizisamused So what you're saying is that you paid proportionately far more for your phone than I do for phone and internet. If you refused to go without it then why should I go without phone and internet now?

@Leowits @lizisamused Are you insane? The phone bill was $37 a month and that didn't include long distance. A common problem with this discussion is youngsters telling older folks how things were before they were born.

@ArtDuggy It's somewhat enjoyable, but all it truly has from a gameplay sense is its very good atmosphere. You could read a novelization of it in your basement with the ost on and achieve a similar result

@BasilFranken @lizisamused Let's suppose you had a $15/mo phone bill in the mid 70s. That's ~$100/mo now or about what a reasonably frugal phone and internet plan. I already don't have cable or a game console. TVs are functionally so much cheaper today that it's not even worth comparison

@BasilFranken @lizisamused I would like nothing more than to buy a brand new 1981 Mazda RX7. An engine, a transmission and a live rear axle. Unfortunately boomers have decided that I am too stupid to drive without 30 assists and emissions features

@BasilFranken @lizisamused Now the assertion that the kids want luxury features is something I'm not so sure about either. In my group of friends everyone is trying to buy or has bought an 80s or 90s shitbox to get away from modern cars' bullshit. I myself have an 86 and 90.

@BasilFranken @lizisamused This is very out of touch. In the rare case you actually find a car with a manual, it's more expensive. I haven't seen a car with crank windows in years. Pretty much every "luxury" in a car is what dealerships order. Go to a dealer and ask for a stripper, you won't get one.

@lizisamused Why are cars so expensive? Do you have A/C? Automatic transmission? Power seats? Power windows? Etc Etc Etc. If boomers had FM radio they were living. Power Windows were for the rich. A large part of the problem is kids today want a lux life free. Math.

@amt385 I remember the first time I heard Max Richter's H in New England for the first time I was utterly captivated by it. But the second time I listened to it I could distinctly hear both hands separately and it immediately lost some of the magic. youtu.be/Yo2NP6G44Jo

@suddendesu I'd consider a person willing to travel to a different continent, let alone country, to attend a concert to be the sincerest form of appreciation that a person could muster. The least one could do is allow them to attend.

Hey here’s a hot take: Japanese media is made for Japanese people. Tickets to live shows and such are limited, and are intended for their domestic audience. Once you open up these limited seats to the world, suddenly the local fans can’t get seats. It’s that simple.
きし ୨୧ kishi ໒꒱.*@chinuhodo

Japan artists post these all the time but fail to understand that their entertainment industry inherently hates foreigners. From region locking music digitally to needing a Japanese address and phone number to buy concert tickets… it gets exhausting, honestly.

@ladwithnoname1 @OnlyWaifu I've never actually fought the lead up to cool ranch. I saw it the first time and just ran past that shit. Alonne is a touch tricky but is also quite doable imo. Nacho cheese is a difficult runback to skip if you don't know what you're doing though.

If you’re a fan of Japanese music and live outside of Japan, I would be so grateful if you take a moment to read this🙏 If you’ve ever wondered why more Japanese artists don’t reach out and do shows & tours overseas, the reason is pretty simple and the main one is the hurdle of selling tickets. There is only a SMALL percentage of artists that can rely on the power of big labels/agents to promote their shows internationally. Even in Japan, selling out shows is a lot more challenging than in past years, due to people just being satisfied with digital content. And considering it costs even more to bring a tour overseas, you can imagine how many artists are willing to LOSE money by doing so, if any. It’s not just about the artist not being popular or sufficient enough, or that they don’t have the will to bring their content to fans around the world. In fact, there are so many fellow artists around me that I highly respect, telling me they wish they could do shows overseas, but know it’s not realistically possible, and as someone who yearns for the same thing, it really, really hurts inside. More importantly, it hurts most that fans around the world will often never ever be able to see a show of their favorite Japanese artist. I’m not trying to ask for pity, nor demand anything, unless this resonates with you. But if it does, and you want to know what you can do to help us reach you with our music, it’s really very simple. Please go follow artist’s socials. Please go subscribe to their Youtube channels. Please find them on Spotify. Please interact with them by commenting and letting them know you’re there to support them. Please share your passion with the people around you. AND PLEASE, don’t miss the opportunity to buy a ticket and GO to their shows, when that miraculous opportunity comes, whether it’s a solo or event stage. I am not exaggerating when I say it IS a miracle and it might never happen again. I know writing all this isn’t gonna change much, but I just hope it reminds you that every listener, every fan, every second of support matters in keeping music alive, particularly in this generation. Thanks for listening, if you made it this far🫶 Let’s keep Rocking On. NANO
