@DIYbitcoin @slush @weedcoder Last tests of the hardware successfully achieved 7.16km distance at ~200kbps NLoS on the latest revision of the Turpial devices github.com/btcven/locha/d… Sadly we couldn’t afford paying the salaries of the 2 other full-time devs, so Luis was the only one working since early 2021

What's the state-of-the-art mesh networking technology today? Is something usable for cities with expected blackouts and network infrastructure outages? I.e. How to spread connectivity when there's just a few Starlinks in the city?

The 872 km fiber cable connecting Tonga to the outside world may have been broken by the eruption, per operator Southern Cross. Unlike landing station power issues, physical cable repairs can take weeks depending on the depth of the damaged segment. Wishing for a speedy recovery
