Every organism has a maximum cognitive bandwidth. A microorganism, a human, a group, a population, an ecosystem. Some problems overwhelm the cognitive bandwidth, and it takes much longer for the organism to process the inputs and come up with the nuances needed to understand the problem. Once the problem is fully understood by the organism of the appropriate scale it is basically solved.

Global hunger could be solved by reducing food waste instead of just producing more and more with GMOs, Pesticides, Growth hormones, synthetic fertilizers, antibiotics etc. If humanity paid more attention we'll find 100s of 'sacklers' in the food supply chain.
Pope Leo XIV@Pontifex

Let us #PrayTogether that everyone, from large producers to small consumers, be committed to avoid wasting food, and to ensure that everyone has access to quality food. #PrayerIntention @clicktopray_en popesprayer.va/praywiththepop…

@levie I was thinking exactly this a couple days ago. It seems strange to worry about something that's currently so annoyingly incompetent. The difference between AI and the news media though is that AI is progressing at an exponential rate.

Noticing an interesting version of gell-man amnesia where people use AI for their job and see all the various things they have to do in the “last mile”, but then look at someone else’s job and think that AI will eliminate it immediately. We all have a much deeper appreciation for the nuances and complexities of the work that we do every day. We run into issues about accessing data, we know how much context is needed to get AI models to work the way we need, we have to review the output of the AI to make sure it’s accurate, and then we have to incorporate that work into some broader business process. We see all those steps deeply for the work that we do. Then, a moment later, we see AI do something in a foreign space and think that it can go automate that entire function. We tend to dramatically underestimate the work that goes into making the AI work just as effectively in those jobs. This is reason to be skeptical about many of the theories of job loss. It’s coming from the lens of being able to automate individual tasks with AI, without understanding all the work that goes into doing the job fully.

A common dynamic I observe with AI: it feels most impressive when you don’t know much about the subject, don’t care or don’t have a clear idea of what the you want. This applies across design, code, legal, and more. If I don’t know code very well, every piece of code it writes feels very impressive. Once you know what something should feel or look like, it becomes almost impossible to guide AI there. And you definitely can’t one-shot it.

Two points on a map. Closer doesn't mean quicker. Many things in life are like this. Understand the unit scale of the map you are using.

I think when new features are proposed by the user (or recently more likely as add-ons by the agent) before execution starts agent should do a conceptual check and id potential issues that might come up/conflicts etc or just security/access questions. User can then click yes/no or some other easy form feedback before the plan is built and execution starts. Now it feels idea to code is super quick but after the project got a bit complex I suffered this morning by doing hours of "security" fixes before being able to deploy. Trying to fit this in a tweet. But does it generally make sense? I feel a tiny bit more collaborative clarity at the beginning would be useful before jumping into code.

@LouisLebbos @amasad @zhenthebuilder hi there! can you share a bit more about how an ideal flow would look for you? also want to understand if there are some domains where you would like to have input. finally, would it help if you gave the agent a threat model / overall security guidelines for your app?

Last two days I have been applying changes and loving it. @amasad @zhenthebuilder A small observation for many features (usually around sharing/collaboration) the agents jumped into implementing a feature before asking maybe 1 or 2 clarifying questions that would have prevented a potential issue later (e.g. do you care if people with share link do x or y), then some of the risks popped-up later as a security risk. In large quantities so I was also tempted to approve instead of editing them. @lhchavez

An Israeli triple-tap attack on rescue workers in southern Lebanon has killed four and left several others injured. Paramedics were attempting to treat their injured colleagues in Mayfadoun when three consecutive Israeli strikes hit them and their ambulances.

Interesting ideas tend to appear in multiple places in slightly different forms. Though that's somewhat of a tautology, because this is a big part of what makes them interesting.

TIL the USSR concealed a bug in a hand-carved Great Seal given as a "gift" in 1945 to the US ambassador that was only discovered by accident in 1951. The bug was designed by Theremin (!) and had no power source or active electronic components. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Thing…

The Epstein class of entitled billionaires and swamp dwellers hate me for bringing transparency, not for obstructing. The Uniparty easily passes bills when I’m the sole objector, but I explain what’s in the bills & how they violate our Constitution. It’s why they want me gone.

Pope Leo XIV
Pope Leo XIV@Pontifex·
Those who pray are aware of their own limitations; they do not kill or threaten with death. Instead, death enslaves those who have turned their backs on the living God, turning themselves and their own power into a mute, blind and deaf idol (Ps 115:4–8), to which they sacrifice every value, demanding that the whole world bend its knee. Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Enough of the display of power! Enough of war! True strength is shown in serving life. #Peace

God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples.
