@TheCatholicEngr I bought 4 dozen sets of the cheapest restaurant silverware for everyday use. Kids lost them, I didn’t care. Took them camping, I didn’t care. Had so many that the drawer was always full. And guests at large parties were impressed by actual cutlery instead of plastic.

What was one small purchase you made that improved your quality of life in a big way? For me it was spending $60 to buy 6 phone chargers and putting them in every location I'd need them instead of taking one charger everywhere I went

@KRISTENW00DS @GreatLakesWife_ I hate it, too, and my parents have been doing this for years. My sister does it with her family now also. My sister seems to only use paper but my mom uses whatever, including styrofoam, sadly.

@GreatLakesWife_ I hate eating food off paper plate’s. It’s such a waste & is so informal. Plates are easy to wash. It’s the pots & pans that’s a pain. We have our Kids (ages 9,11,12) do the dishes after dinner every night. I try my best to wash as much as I can as I’m preparing the meal.

Just saw a reel that said “I’m skipping paper plates this month and using real dishes to save our family at least $20”. Do people actually use paper plates for every meal? I don’t think I know anyone who uses them unless they’re having a lot of people over

Used to bartend years ago at a spot where my bar manager was a middle aged woman really, really into astrology. Every single instance of bad behavior from me was excused with “Brandon’s having a Virgo day” or “Mercury’s in Gatorade, we need to be patient with Brandon”. You can get away with a lot faking a little earnestness in their belief systems.

I understand the potential consequences of spoiling kids. But the truth is, I've been holding back way too much. We simply have no idea what will happen tomorrow - and I've decided to adjust the way I experience life with our 5-year-old. So yesterday, I changed things up.

@ErinDusty @mom_of_littles I agree that it shouldn’t just be women. Men should be willing to stay home, too. I’ve worked with so many working moms who are subpar at their jobs because they are juggling *way* too many things.

@mom_of_littles If all the women stayed home forever, we’d never see women in society being teachers, doctors, artists and police. And as a woman, these women make life better for your daughters and sons in ways men can’t. So please stay home but stop worshipping at its alter like this.

Was driving with my dad today and he asked me if I ever planned on going back to work. I told him hopefully not, I’d like to do what mom does and raise my kids, and then help raise my grandkids eventually. He smiled so big. Then he asked how we were doing financially.

@amycdall72 @mom_of_littles Or even fathers. Just *someone* managing the household with flexibility. My experience is that very few men are willing to stay home, which is sad to me.

@FeralSimpleLife @mom_of_littles This. It’s not about traditionalist roles or being barefoot in the kitchen. It’s about *a parent* (doesn’t even matter to me which one) being around to get that calmer and simpler life. So much less stressful.

I had a conversation last night with my oldest son (almost 14) and he mentioned that he thinks it would be better for me to be home. He said he planned to work hard so his kids could have their mom home one day. Made me proud. Life would be simpler and calmer if I was able to be home instead of out of the house 12 hours per day.

@KenjiCapital @MarketPalmer_ Definitely! Lots of couples and therapists recommend regular meetings, and not even about money only, although that’s surely a topic.

My recommendation for all couples: My wife and I have a monthly money meeting. Might sound too "business-like" but at the end of the day, money plays a huge part in answering those 5 questions as a team. At the end of the day, it's not really about money, it's about the life we want to live.
