Swansea Council and the Ospreys are poised to launch a bold new era for both top-flight and community rugby with a major investment in the historic St Helen’s ground.
Ospreys director Rob Davies said: “We have been working with Swansea Council for many months on the redevelopment of the iconic St Helen’s ground. We’re delighted that we’ve found a way to not only progress our plans to play back in Swansea from next season, but also to further enhance the work we’ve always done in our community.”
The proposals will be discussed by the council’s cabinet on Wednesday, March 25, and follow talks with the Ospreys. If agreed, works could start in April so that the Ospreys can use the stadium next season.

Assuming we make it to next season, I wonder where we’ll play? I can’t stomach another season in Bridgend with no prospect of St Helen’s redevelopment.
We need to play in Swansea. Whether that’s the Liberty with one stand open or St Helen’s as it is now, we need to move back.

@ospreylian3 Liberty is out. We can't afford it anyway and the Swans would never let us back. St Helens nothing as started there. If the Brewery isn't the best as pro grounds go, its still head & shoulders above SH. If next season is our last I can't see anyone pushing to move us anywhere tho

Ah, fuck. The outcome nobody wanted apart from the union and the truth of the matter is Y11 gave them the easy way out.
Sympathies go out to my Ospreys mates and everyone connected to the club.
Shame on everyone complicit in this decision.

I stayed away 4 a few years b4 coming round to the Os. It's been over a decade now of ST's with them. It'll be a long time before I put a penny into Welsh rugby again

𝗪𝗥𝗨 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 The WRU board met for its January meeting today and considered the recommendation from the Executive Leadership Team on the sale of Cardiff Rugby. The board reviewed in detail the final two bids and unanimously approved the proposal to move forward with a preferred bidder into an exclusivity period. Following this decision, the WRU has obligations to liaise with a number of stakeholders over the next few days. We will then discuss the decision with the two bidders and the management of Cardiff Rugby and we expect to be in a position to have completed this by next week. The WRU hopes to finalise the detailed negotiations with the preferred bidder and sign a binding agreement within a matter of weeks.
