@TheStudyofWar It is actually very easy for Russia to protect itself: Step 1: get the hell out of Ukraine … That’s it.

MORE: Russia’s geographical size poses an enormous challenge to defend, especially with traditional air defense systems on which the Russians reportedly still rely to protect against Ukraine drone salvoes. The need to cover vast areas with air defense systems is reportedly straining Russian air defenses, especially given Ukraine’s extensive strike campaign against Russian air defense radars. Russia does not appear to have fully developed or deployed mobile fire teams, drone interceptors, or other low-cost distributable systems to defend against repeated massed Ukrainian drone strikes on widely dispersed targets. The Kremlin has reportedly authorized private enterprises to develop their own, presumably low-cost, counter-drone approaches, but the targets Ukrainian forces have been striking do not appear to have been adequately covered with such techniques. Ukraine’s long-range strike campaign will likely cause Russian forces to divert valuable resources and manpower to air defense efforts away from efforts against Ukraine itself. Russian forces will likely adapt over time, given their initial forays into drone interceptors and discussions of mobile fire teams, but may continue to find the challenge of defending many large, widely separated facilities daunting. Ukraine’s long-range strike campaign is significantly damaging Russian oil export capabilities. Bloomberg reported that ship tracking data indicates that the Jewel oil tanker began loading at the oil export port of Ust-Luga, Leningrad Oblast, on April 4 — nine days after the Ukrainian strike against the port overnight on March 24 to 25 that reportedly halted all oil loadings at the port. A Western security official told the Financial Times (FT) on April 6 that recent Ukrainian strikes against the oil export port of Primorsk have burned $200 million of oil. FT also noted, citing commodity prices benchmarks provider Argus’ data, that exports of the petrochemical naphtha from Ust-Luga fell by about 70 percent in the last week of March following the Ukrainian strikes that began on the night of March 24 to 25.

NEW: Ukraine’s expanding long-range strike campaign against Russian oil infrastructure is exploiting overstretched Russian air defenses and significantly damaging Russian oil export capabilities. Other Key Takeaways: Russian milbloggers continued to criticize the ineffectiveness of Russian air defense systems and highlight the impact of Ukrainian strikes. The Russian military is experiencing manpower challenges and is unable to recruit enough contract soldiers to replace its frontline losses. The Russian MoD is attempting to generate additional manpower through other sources, regardless of the financial and societal costs. Russia is facing increasing recruitment challenges as the pool of Russians willing to sign contracts declines, despite Kremlin efforts to increase signing bonuses and tap additional sources of manpower. Ukraine’s Western partners continue to provide air defense aid to Ukraine. Ukrainian forces recently advanced in northern Kharkiv Oblast and the Velykyi Burluk direction. Russian forces launched 141 drones against Ukraine.

A russian soldier who is now fighting for Ukraine: My father disowned me when he found out I had switched to Ukraine’s side. “They told us the russian army would be welcomed with open arms. I was mobilized into the russian army in 2022. I ended up in the 83rd Separate Air Assault Brigade. They tried to reprogram me. They showed me videos about biolabs and about Odesa in 2014. Then they said, ‘There’s nothing to talk about with you.’ They decided to send me to be disposed of. They gathered six of us and told us we had to go as ‘dead meat’ to check whether there was an enemy. I turned around and saw a guy with a blue ribbon. It was a Ukrainian soldier. I told him, ‘Let’s unload our weapons and go.’ Suddenly, drones with thermal cameras appeared from the russian side. They saw that we were being taken out and started shelling us with mortars. I had never run that fast through a tree line in my life. They were trying to bury us. When I ended up in a Ukrainian prison as a prisoner of war, I saw people who still wanted Ukraine destroyed, including children and families. I didn’t want to take part in that. Even if you are exchanged, you are immediately sent back to the front. I decided it would be better to defend Ukraine. I made a deal with the guards so they would pass along the message that I refused the exchange and wanted to serve on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. You have to prove that you didn’t come just like that. There is a polygraph that won’t let you lie or hide anything. My father immediately disowned me. What surprised me is that he is Ukrainian, but he wanted Ukraine to be ‘liberated.’ When he found out that I had switched sides, he said, ‘I no longer have a son.’ If they say they support my decision, they have two options: prison or the front. The one feeling I will live with for the rest of my life is how I ended up in Ukraine. I came here on the side of the occupier. I will have to live with that. It does not matter that now I am defending Ukraine.” Source: translated from Tymofiy Mylovanov

@astraiaintel When war happens, soldiers die. When the soldiers are men, A hand full of men can seed a population for the future as long as there are enough wombs. Protecting woman from war is practical. If woman die alongside me in war, the rate of repopulating slows

The video is from Japan's House of Councillors (参議院). A woman in a black blazer, white shirt, orange scarf, and red ribbon pin stands speaking at a podium, gesturing with clasped hands and looking around. Seated nearby is another woman in a beige jacket; later it cuts to male politicians in suits, one standing. No subtitles or closed captions. It seems to show a parliamentary session on policy/culture (possibly immigration or integration), used here to contrast with the post's point on cremation norms vs. burial requests. Can't pull exact spoken words without audio access.

The new Japanese Prime Minister said she will deport all culturally incompatible foreigners from Japan, such as the Islamists who gathered in front of Himeji Castle, the largest castle in Japan, for a mass prayer and to demand Sharia law. Do you agree?

Japanese Muslims are COMPLAINING that they cannot build cemeteries because cremation is the custom in Japanese culture. SOLUTION: GO BACK TO YOUR OWN COUNTRY! 👋✈️ Except for the BLIND LEFTISTS, many Japanese people have NO INTEREST in hearing the Muslims' "ENDLESS DEMANDS FOR CONCESSIONS"! 🔥🇯🇵

@MAforUkraine @bayraktar_1love An AC130 would provide close air support. A C130 would potentially land a large rescue force/vehicles(I believe we did it in the failed hostage rescue attempt in Iran 40+ years ago).

Lack of humanity is killing the world. Ukraine cries out — and the world stays silent. Because it’s easier that way. Just a year ago, Kostiantynivka still had signs of normal life, even on the frontline. The world allowed it to be destroyed. Period.
UAVoyager🇺🇦@NAFOvoyager

While the world lights candles and celebrates Easter, here the streets that were once full of people are now smoke and rubble. 💔 Kostiantynivka — 70,000 strong before. Today, almost nothing remains.
