@RoryStewartUK @JohnCleese Interesting that you think Christianity (why the scare quotes around "culture"?) is based on the Old Testament and that the New has nothing to say..

.@JohnCleese - What would Christian “culture” look like if you represented it with 1 Sam 15:3 Josh 6:21 Deut 7:1 Deut 20:16–18 Ex 17 - Deut 25 Psalm 137:9 etc? How about actually meeting some Muslims and listening to them instead of demonising a religion you know very little about with selective quotations…
John Cleese@JohnCleese

This is complete nonsense To criticise a culture whose holy book advocates the killing of all the people they disagree with...is not racist It's culturalist And this criticism seems wholly justifiable to me Oh ! There's the door bell. Must be the police...

@yuanyi_z Keeping alive someone who wants to die is just as immoral as killing someone who wants to live. Their reasons for wanting to die are none of your business. Maybe it's because they're in pain, maybe it's just ennui, maybe it's to make an artistic statement. It's their decision.

@whitesundesert London. Used to have to go to Paris for a day and a night every two weeks. Could never get over the pervading stink of piss and the impossibility of walking side-by-side on the pavement. Well lit though.

@BiancoDavinci Not necessarily. Some people do not excel at memorisation. Simple. To have them succeed or fail by that measure alone has long been one of academia's most silly features.

Its actually quite funny how many of the longest lived constitutions are just English speaking people. 1901 shouldn't get you in this list, but modern history being what it is, it does!

Shocking that he preferred Australians and New Zealanders to Americans, on the grounds of Wisdom from Accumulated Knowledge. Kiwis, really? I guess he just overrated the institutional inertia of the British Empire.

If you entered into the Temple, into the Holy of Holies where the presence of God once dwelled, would you drop your pants? No? Well now you know why Joseph, or indeed any pious Second Temple Jewish man, would rather die than violate Mary's sanctity.
Jennifer Greenberg 🕊️@JennMGreenberg

I never understood the purpose of this doctrine. Obviously Mary was a virgin when she had Jesus, but why must she remain perpetually so? Especially when the Bible talks about Jesus’s brothers. She was married to Joseph and sex within marriage is good, not sinful.

I don’t particularly like Clavicular but he’s 100% right. watching sportsball and getting drunk with your “friends” is one of the most harmful ways of spending you time “the best choose one thing above all: immortal glory. the many care only to glut themselves like cattle”

The 1976 Labour leadership election was contested by Callaghan, Foot, Jenkins, Healey, Benn and Crosland - every one of them a political titan. Compare this line-up with what we have today, not just within Labour but across the entire political spectrum. How we have fallen.
Lee David Evans@LeeDavidEvansUK

🚨 NEW PODCAST: Was this the most talented Labour leadership election ever? In the second part of our miniseries on the 1976 transition of power, @richardmarcj and I discuss the remarkable field of candidates who sought the lease of Number 10 after Harold Wilson. 1/2

This is what the Israel lobby does. The Greens are surging in the polls and the lobby wants one of their lackey’s Badenoch, Farage, or Starmer inside No.10 and certainly not Polanski. The lobby’s worst nightmare is a Jewish PM who isn’t a Zionist. So they have to destroy him.

@mfjlewis @MrHistory92 @danielmgmoylan All reasons are pretty “deliberate”. It don’t signify. Your reasons for slandering all those who attend TLM’s are deliberately political and are entirely made up from your vexious crusade against an imaginary foe.

@MarkCFDBailey @MrHistory92 @danielmgmoylan "The same could be said." I suppose you could say that about particular subgroups among Catholics who attend the normative Mass. Because it is the default liturgy, it can't be described as an ideological movement. But those who go to the TLM do so for deliberate reasons.

Parolin is right. We do all share "this assessment that the Pope gives." We all want the division over liturgy to end and for the legitimate needs of the faithful to be met. The problem is, Catholics disagree on the causes of the conflict and what the "legitimate needs" are.

@mfjlewis @MrHistory92 @danielmgmoylan The same could be said about NO priests and attenders. As to your assumptions about me, they are both impertinent and hysterical. I wonder that the vituperation of your response is not caused by an innate understanding of the scant nature of your argument.
