@KettlebellDan No wealth tax. It will be voluntary. Any billionaire that didn't serve in the armed forces here pays a higher rate. Don't want to pay , get serving instead of the 18 year old poor kid you helped create risking his life while you back slap buddies for creating a limo driver job

I don’t think we should tax the ultra wealthy on unrealized gains, or a wealth tax. I DO think we should close tax loopholes. I DO think we should tax you more if you took government subsidies. I DO think we should have the government earn equity in the private businesses that it gives tax breaks, subsidies and grants to. I DO think we should add an interest based tax to any loans you take against equity in a company you control since it’s abused to avoid taxes. If the public system in this country helps you build that wealth, then it’s reasonable that system should be paid back from its prosperity. If you make a huge sum of money, that’s fine, pay your tax rate like everyone, and I’m good with that. But: A) Pay your actual prescribed percentage rate like the rest of us. B) Pay back into the system that benefited you. Those points should not be controversial to any rational actor. It is only through lenses of jealousy, greed, or a lack of understanding, that we can conclude either of the other extremes to be fair here.
Western Lensman@WesternLensman

Adam Schiff released a video fantasizing about what “we” could pay for “by the wealth of our first trillionaire." "$1 trillion, if we decided to distribute that equally among American households, your household would get $7,500..." Sounds downright utopian, Adam.

Chamath says his father chose welfare and drinking over working "My father couldn't get a job. So, we were on welfare and welfare was probably 17, 18, $19,000 a year at the time in Canada. And it's a family of five." ...my dad just spent this cycle between drinking and not working, drinking and not working......But could he have gotten a job making eight or 10 bucks an hour at a store? He could have. He chose not to. "

If you’re poor and criticize the rich, you’re a jealous moocher If you’re rich and criticize the rich you’re hypocritical. It seems to come down to: just bow down to the rich.

Claire is a failed artist who worked in Taco Bell. She has been easily brainwashed to compensate for her failed life experiences which is clearly on display. Who does she thinks she is telling us what’s the right way to live - to govern? This RESUME falls way short! Getting real tired of working my *ss off my entire life to involuntarily fund government pet projects that go directly against my values (and common sense), harm people I care about or just never actually benefit my loved ones whatsoever while always somehow magically ending up back in politician’s overstuffed bank accounts funding their Mega Mansions and Mega Pints on vineyards and beaches they didn’t earn. Yeah pretty damn tired of all that.

Communists look at a world where everyone got richer and complain that some people got richer more. They'd rather have less wealth distributed more equally than more wealth distributed unequally. That's why they focus on inequality instead of explaining how wealth is actually created.
MC Squared@mcsquared34

“Communism sounds good in theory but…” Let me stop you right there compadre, bc capitalism doesn’t even sound good in theory. Oh ya, 13 people owning 99% of global wealth, ya let’s create a system that makes that possible. What the fuck is wrong with you?

@faizsays Spacex is like a wannabe blockbuster movie. Spend 200 million on it but still loses 50 million. Everyone got paid, jobs were created but the loss goes to the shareholders. Both are entertaining.

From me: SpaceX’s orbital data center plans are about as thought out as Elon Musk’s idea for The Boring Co. Take an existing problem and move it somewhere else. (Traffic: underground. Data centers: space). Don’t even get people started on the Mars colony. “[If] anyone else said it, they would probably have him institutionalized.” And yet, SpaceX soared to a more than $2 trillion valuation on these ideas + others wapo.st/43Knxvm

If Elon Musk decided “enough is enough” and shut down Tesla, SpaceX, and Starlink, politicians would discover pretty quickly that jobs, innovation, and tax revenue don’t come from press releases. They come from businesses that employ people, build things, and take risks. Kill the goose, and eventually you run out of eggs.

I know exactly how Elon Musk built his way to trillionaire status through revolutionary companies like Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and Boeing Company. What I don’t understand is how career politicians like Nancy Pelosi, Bernie Sanders, and Elizabeth Warren somehow became millionaires on a government salary

Rich people give poor people advice assuming they're stupid. They tell poor people to stop buying avocado toast. $5 a day x 20 days a month = $100 Not enough for a down payment. Not enough for anything of value. At least the toast provides some temporary comfort.

@DavidBCollum @NickNemo17 When the business is loaning money for a profit you keeps rates high when demand is there. It's not to stop inflation its because demand increased. When demand drops you cut til that demand comes back. Cuts are not for stimulus, it just happens at the same time .

For four years I’ve listened to private equity guys explain why exits weren’t happening. Rates. Lina Khan. The election. Tariffs. The excuse changes every six months. The inventory still grows. There are still tens of thousands of PE-backed companies waiting to be sold, private credit funds pretending marks are real, and insurers funding the whole machine. Maybe the problem isn’t Washington. Maybe the problem is that the smart money got high on its own supply. No paywall. mispricedassets.substack.com/p/the-smart-mo…
