More lies from NYPost/NYPD — they conflate fatalities caused by "e-bikes or e-scooters" as "e-bikes." We know at least one of the fatalities in question was caused by someone on an illegal e-moto that NYPD could simply confiscate and destroy if it wanted.

BREAKING: One Person is dead after Out-of-Control Speeding Driver Slams Into Crowd of People, Cyclists, and Multiple Vehicles outside of Apollo Theater in Harlem. One pedestrian was killed and another critically injured after a speeding SUV plowed into people, cyclists, and multiple vehicles near the Apollo Theater Thursday night, according to police. The crash happened around 8 p.m. at West 125th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard, where authorities say a red Hyundai Tucson driven by a 49-year-old man lost control, struck two delivery workers on bikes, hit a tractor-trailer and an unoccupied NYPD vehicle, and sent victims flying. Starting March 27, NYPD will start treating cyclists the same as drivers by stopping the Adams-era practice of writing criminal summonses to cyclists for minor traffic offenses.

After we released a report on illegal parking in Downtown Brooklyn & did a walkthrough w/ NYPD Chief of Transportation Obe, enforcement has increased. Last month @NYPD84Pct issued 1,317 tickets & towed 55 cars with placards, helping tackle illegal parking & make our streets safer

@nick_benson Fun fact: speed cameras, red light cameras (Houston installed and removed these in my lifetime), and variable speed limits (like the Autobahn) unless as part of a roadworks or school zone were all banned by the Texas State legislature.

Houston: 10-13 per 100,000 people
And NYC has a whole lot more tourists on top of the 8.5 million residents on its streets

@nick_benson Speed cameras are not used in Houston at all. 24 hr cameras not necessary. Zero, zip, nada. School zone speed limits are 20 mph in effect 1 hour before and 1 hour after school is out. What you’re describing is a heavy handed, oppressive & abusive method of control.
