I don’t actually think there is that much truth here, @jason. We certainly have not reached AGI by any of the traditional definitions. (See agidefinition.agi w @hendrycks @Yoshua_Bengio and myself and many others.) [Current AI systems still have huge problems with visual comprehension, significant problems with hallucinations, continual learning etc.] And it’s not clear how much of current job loss is actually attributable to AI. And the idea that lots of stuff is going to become free is hardly plausible when the big AI companies don’t even want to pay for the IP they are hoovering at mass scale. They are not going to share a penny more than an angry public makes them share.
@jason@Jason

Here’s the truth: we’ve already reached AGI — we just haven’t implemented it broadly. Millions of jobs are being lost as we speak. Entire careers will be retired. The rich and powerful investors and founders who implement AGI will get bizarrely rich beyond what makes sense. It will break people's brains on both sides. It’s gonna suck for a lot of our friends and family, who aren’t obsessed with their careers, because things are moving so fast they won’t have even left the starting gate by the time the awards are handed out. We’re gonna have to solve for a lot of second- and third-order effects, some of which will suck (job loss) and some of which will be awesome. AI will create free/cheap energy, free education, cheaper and better food, homes that build themselves and medicine that makes you as healthy as a 30-year-old when you’re 100. … change is hard, but humans are the most adaptable species nature has ever created. We can figure it out.

If AI can now solve math, discover physics and chemistry breakthroughs faster than human PhDs, why are we still training humans to be physicists? Serious question. Should education shift from 'learn to do X' to 'learn to direct AI doing X'? The wrong direction costs a generation their careers.

Aswath Damodaran is someone I discovered three years ago through a Google Talk video on valuation. To this day I still follow him closely, absorbing his perspectives and philosophy on investing. He had a clip from a couple years back where he was calling out ESG as the hot buzzword in finance — and now? Crickets. The silence on ESG speaks for itself. That’s really the nature of financial markets though. They will package up any narrative, slap a premium on it, and sell it to you like it’s something sacred — pretty much advertise a cup of water as coming straight from the holy land. @AswathDamodaran

'Male masturbation may have an adaptive benefit: it flushes out damaged, stored sperm.' New Oxford research suggests that the longer sperm are stored before ejaculation, the lower their quality, with implications for men trying to conceive and IVF treatment. Find out more ⬇️

WeRide CFO Jennifer Li (Q4 2025 earnings call): - Yeah, I'll take this question. So, Tim, first of all, Uber is an important shareholder and partner for WeRide. We believe their incentive is to maximize our WeRide's like, Robotaxi utilization. As a matter of fact, with all the like, partnerships they have signed till today, you can only get Robotaxi from Uber on the Uber platform from WeRide and from Waymo. That's it. We do have a very concrete plan to scale together. In the key market, like say Middle East, we have the first and foremost operational ride that we're gonna launch 1,200 Robotaxis, which will be fully delivered by 2027. This is gonna be a very large and definitely the largest Robotaxi fleet outside China and U.S. - The bottom line is like, we're not just one of Uber's vendor, we're their equity linked key operator and key Robotaxi providers in key markets with a proven unit economics. We think our multi-scenario, multi-country footprint will makes us a very essential part of the urban mobility infrastructure, not just a replaceable supplier to anyone. Hence, I am bullish on Uber. $UBER $WRD

I hope this clip serves as a wake-up call about the growing divergence between LLM providers and their enterprise customers. Just because OpenAI has 10x in revenue does not mean that value automatically transfers to enterprise users. It’s striking that Chamath says he is not seeing economic output despite spending millions of dollars on tokens. That is quite eye-opening, and honestly it should serve as a cautionary signal across the entire space.

The rise of vibe coding tools — for anyone unfamiliar, vibe coding refers to a process where a developer (or non-developer) generates code through an LLM but does not review the output code at all. Why review thousands upon thousands of lines of code when you can just vibe it out and claim productivity — a narrative that is often exaggerated or misleading. Imagine driving 100 MPH in an area with a 30 MPH speed limit. What is likely going to happen? A. Getting pulled over by the police B. Hurting innocent people C. Nothing because you’re Batman Obviously A and B. The errors will eventually appear and become frustrating, yet people continue vibe coding while believing they’ll produce the next Facebook-level product.

$META @amitisinvesting was asking about META glasses use cases… I asked the glasses to take a picture of what I was looking at and see if it could find me the best price and reviewed fragrance and compare with stores locally. While $META wasnt able to do this, I was able to upload the image to Gemini and got a quick result. At some point I think, glasses will be able to display prices and information based on the visual image and could be a great way to price shop.

Sam Altman previously stated that “some firms are attributing job cuts to AI, when in reality, those layoffs were already planned or would have occurred regardless.” He describes this, along with other exaggerations of AI capabilities, as "AI washing"….a tactic aimed at masking business issues. Just sayin’
Bull Theory@BullTheoryio

This is CRAZY. It turns out Jack Dorsey's Block $XYZ spent $68 million on a single party in September 2025, roughly the annual payroll for 200 employees at $340,000 each. Then 5 months later, he laid off 4,000 people (40% of the company's workforce), citing AI and "intelligence tools" as a reason. Many people are speculating the real reason is poor planning and overspending, not AI.
