For 5+ years, I was hooked on @garrytan’s YouTube, finding inspiration in his obsession with solving problems others ignore. In 2023, that energy connected with my own pain point: How is it possible that we can get anything delivered to our doorstep instantly, yet still spend 40+ minutes searching for parking at tech campuses? The disconnect made zero sense. So, I decided to build. My first startup, Spark, set out to help people know exactly where and when to park removing the guesswork, the wasted time, the everyday friction. The reality? Building for physical world problems is capital intensive. When true product-market fit didn’t emerge fast enough, I had to pause. But diving deep on your own struggles transforms you those hard lessons sharpened my founder instinct. You don’t just “think” about solutions; you feel them, which creates the strongest foundation for what’s next. Last week, I put my ethos to the test. I booked a ticket to San Francisco for the first time ever, landing at @ycombinator HQ. Walking in was nerve wracking, but betting on yourself means you actually have to show up. The first thing I noticed? They don’t just invest in startups they invest in people. My conversations with builders at @fdotinc and 3+ YC founders felt like meeting people who already “knew” me and genuinely wanted to help. That’s what sets world class founder communities apart. The YC hackathon by @MetorialAi was a eye opening . You could tell every person in the room was handpicked for relentless ambition and next level grit. Every project demo and every conversation made me want to build harder. Sometimes, proximity to great builders is enough to force you to level up. If you’re driven by your own pain points, keep chasing those solutions. Even if you have to hit pause, even if you risk everything. The doors aren’t just opened by ideas they’re opened by showing up in the rooms where ambition lives. Sometimes the only thing between you and your breakthrough is booking the flight and taking the leap. Keep building. Keep showing up IRL.
