Duke was great, but the narrative that K dominated while Roy stole a few titles is perception.

@FirstTake @stephenasmith The reason North Carolina got stomped at Cameron Indoor Stadium is because UNC was missing a national player of the year candidate! That wasn’t a lucky victory over Duke in Chapel Hill! That gap between the two schools was not that wide prior to Caleb Wilson getting hurt

Get you a coach that’s excitable that’s under 40 and knows how to get the attention of these young players. A coach like that is lethal when you get him an NIL bag like what we have in Chapel Hill. If it wasn’t for the fact, he played in Durham the answer might be a guy at Tennessee State University.

The worst thing Roy Williams ever did at UNC was the last thing he ever did at UNC.
Hand-picking Davis for arguably the best job in college hoops has set this program back years. It’s been a painful run, and it needs to end now.
Hire outside the UNC family.

@Mike_Modulator UNC needs to cut the crap of thinking name/brand and spend money. These difference makers want to be paid. Tradition means very little. College recruiting is free agency and "In God We Trust" wins in free agency regardless of sport.

@JudgeBobOrr Gotta get a good culture fit. Hurley’s an asshole, Golden reads as a bit sleazy even if he’s truly innocent (but Carolina wouldn’t hire a guy with allegations anyways), and someone like Pitino would also be a no-go. Otzelberger, Lloyd, Stevens, Donovan are the first calls.

One of the coolest things I’ve ever seen was a few years ago. South Carolina players looked at some of Coach Staley’s college tape. And a lot of them said they knew their coach was nice, but they didn’t realize how nice she was.

@Mike_Modulator Many won't admit they wanted Dean gone for other reasons. The guy was a great HC and knocked on the door many times until James, Perk, MJ and crew delivered. Both titles still had big late mistakes by opponents.
Today's sports climate would run K from Duke before any titles.

I know many talented guys who could’ve gone to Delaware State and made a difference, but they were chasing dreams of being somewhere else and playing somewhere else but a lot of of them ended up nowhere. DelState also made the mistake of not recruiting local talent like they should have
